This past spring, we returned to Disney . . . this time taking ALL of the nieces and our parents. WHAT FUN!
And, when we begin to plan a trip to Disney, our “Sewing for Disney” scheming commences – in full swing.
If you have followed our blog for some time, you might remember our “Sewing for Disney” series {the recap of sewn garments can be seen HERE}. This might just be our favorite series to date!! Such a fun concept …
The premise? Think of a Disney character, ride, theme park, item, etc. and give a “nod” to it. Fun!! RIGHT?!?!
As luck would have it, FIVE of the original 14 garments made a return trip this time around.
LG enjoyed being Snow White for the day at Epcot {Oliver + S, Swingset Top and Skirt}.
She also was able to wear our favorite creation sewn from “round 1″: Belle {Oliver + S, Ice Cream Dress}.
After we sewed a larger size of Oliver + S, Class Picnic Shorts, LG was able to eek some more wear out of Rapunzel / Pascal {Oliver + S, Popover Top and Class Picnic Shorts}.
Finally, she wore EA’s original safari attire {Oliver + S, Music Class Blouse and Skirt} to the Animal Kingdom one day.
CL even pulled off Tinkerbell {Oliver + S, Pinwheel Slip Dress} once more – this time, adding some “glitter shorts” . . .aka: pixie dust . . . {Oliver + S, Class Picnic Shorts} to the look. This character was actually her TOP CHOICE in what she wanted sewn for her return trip to Disney . . .
BRACE YOURSELVES, FRIENDS!!
BRAND NEW, “Sewing for Disney” posts are coming your way. . . and we are SUPER EXCITED about them!
**DISCLAIMER: Even if you aren’t planning a trip to Disney or even like Disney all that much, there will *hopefully* be something for everyone here!! So, please don’t discount this series before it begins.
As we prepared to sew for Disney, we asked each niece to list their 10 favorite Disney characters, movies, etc. We then took the list, brainstormed, divvied up the characters, and eliminated some of the overlap. Each child received their “top two” favorite Disney choices, as well as many others on their lists. One garment was a SURPRISE for LG, and not on anyone’s original list – however, it was ALL she talked about leading up to the trip, so we knew we had to make that particular outfit happen!
Interested in what to expect?? How about these “factoids” to whet your sewing appetite . . .
34 pieces made.
22 garments completed.
18 patterns sewn.
7 pattern companies used.
8 new characters represented.
4 characters revisited.
Any guesses to the new characters we sewed this round?? OR . . characters that were revisited?? We look forward to sharing our creations with you over the upcoming weeks, and would love to hear your thoughts, comments, inspirations, and character/pattern pairings throughout the “Sewing for Disney” series.
We hope our enthusiasm is contagious . . .
It is going to be F.U.N!
Wow! Can’t wait! And did you sew any for the adults?!
Nothing for the adults . . . we were just ecstatic to finish our sewing visions for the children. Maybe one day!!
There have been some exciting movies released since your last series! Inside Out, Moana, Cocoa, Ralph, Frozen 2…. not to mention Star Wars and the live action remakes. I can’t wait to see what you came up with.
Well . . . ummm . . . we actually beat SOME of those movies by going last spring. It’s just taken us this long to pull pictures and write the posts about the fun! But, on the other hand – we avoided an Elsa garment on our first trip. Could we pull that feat off again?!?! For the record, the Frozen II movie wardrobe was noteworthy, and one we’ve talked about since . . .
Wow! You guys are amazing. I loved this series, so excited to see your new creations!
We are SOOO VERY EXCITED to share them!
I LOVE the ‘sewing for Disney’ series! I can’t WAIT to see the new looks! I think my favourite photo from last time was when several of the characters noticed the ‘Belle’ dress
Awww, that is one of our all-time favorite pictures of the 1st trip as well. So sweet that you remembered it too . . .
Really looking forward to this new Sewing for Disney series. Loved the last one! Such creative ideas, beautiful makes and girls having a great time; what’s not to love? 😀
Thanks! It is a fun one for sure . . . As for what’s not to love? Maybe the Disney heat?? But, we didn’t complain – much . . .
