So, it’s been pretty quiet around here for awhile.

Ummm. . . who are we kidding? There’s been no MOOOO-vement around these parts . . . {couldn’t resist the pun}!

The fall months seem to fill up with activities and events before our eyes . . .no matter how we plan and prepare.

Still, we’ve found a little time for sewing among the hustle and bustle of the season! One project bogged us down, and another was a “staple” sewing project that just doesn’t have much content to be “blog-worthy”. Two pair of plain jeans?!?!? Come on! Who wants to see those??  You may see them yet – once we sew something to pair them with!

We laid a plan for “stash-busting projects” and spent a day prepping / cutting the garments’ pattern pieces. And, through that, we hit a new level of distaste for “patterned fabric”. At least the cutting portion of those fabrics . . . Ugh. We might have been going cross-eyed at the end of the day.

And, then, Liesl {of Oliver + S} presented her readers with a design challenge: Using the techniques in The Building Block Dress as well as select Robert Kaufman fabrics, design a garment that incorporates each.

Okay. Challenge accepted.

Unfortunately, there was a deadline.

And, we waited until the FINAL DAY!!!

But, possibilities are practically endless with this book, so we opted to design a garment for EACH of our nieces.

It sure is fun to dream, plan, and ogle over fabric . . .ESPECIALLY when you are stuck in “stash-busting mode”.

*Each of these designs not only incorporated The Building Block Dress‘ techniques, they also showcased pinned inspiration from several years {and counting}. The difference is that we now have a broader skill set *thank you, Liesl* for attacking some of these techniques.
