There were a few projects in our “Sewing for Disney” plans that we felt confident would be “home run” sort of sews!
The “Sewing for Disney: Tinkerbell” outfit was one of them.
You see, we had made another Oliver + S, Pinwheel Slip Dress – seen HERE. And, EA couldn’t get enough of it.
And although Emily bleached it {right in the front, center of the garment}, EA continued to wear it . . .and want to wear it even when dirty . . . ALL. SUMMER. LONG. last year.
The planning phase for Tinkerbell’s outfit was the quickest of all planning phases.
We knew we wanted to use the Pinwheel Slip Dress as one of our garments, and Tinkerbell seemed to be the perfect match for that style.
We sewed a size 5, with 1/2″ length added.
This child is growing UP {not out} faster than we can keep up with her!!
The metallic gold bias added just enough sparkle to capture the “pixie dust magic” of Tinkerbell.
EA was most curious if she could wear her hair like Tinkerbell when she wore the outfit to Disney.
SURE . . why not?!?!
A high ponytail, pulled halfway out seemed to do the trick for her.
No fancy hairdos or buns necessary . . . YET!
Of course, the child couldn’t keep her hands off that “fancy hair style” to save her life!!
She was a tad jealous of Tinkerbell’s shoes, but thankfully hasn’t requested any of her own!
She enjoyed a little “Hokey Pokey” dance with Tinkerbell for photos, and then flitted out the door for some more Disney fun.
Speaking of fun: this was the first day to ride the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.
It was the first {and last} ride for two members of our party {*the photo above is quite possibly the funniest picture of our time at Disney}.
Yet, as stated before, EA loved, loved, loved the thrill rides . . . and this one might have been the favorite of all!
WOW, our “Sewing for Disney” series is quickly drawing to an end!! We have one more outfit to show for the Magic Kingdom, as well as two garments sewn for the Animal Kingdom still to show in our blog queue. Hopefully it’s been a refreshing series for you – whether you are planning a Disney trip or not in your future. Needless to say, we sure are having fun with it!
The gold trim is the perfect addition to make the dress sparkle.
It was a good compromise for our non-costume sewing adventure!
Awwww! Yay! It’s so cute. I love how simple it is and still pulls off the Tinkerbell vibe. Can’t wait to take my kids to Disney!
Ohhhh, you’ll have so much fun!! We are not “crowd people”, but it’s so magical – it outweighs the crowds. We’re already planning to return once the youngest niece gets a little older!!
I love all of your disney interpretations! So wearable! This one will see a lot of wear, I’m sure (note to self: find metallic gold bias!).
You WON THE INTERNET with that roller coaster photo. I’m dying. Poor babies! But I am dying! PRICELESS. Made my day!
:)! Happy to give you some enjoyment!! We STILL are laughing over this photo. CLASSIC!
That gold bias is the perfect amount of sparkle!
We really need to buy some more. It’s not too “over the top” which is nice . . .
Love this dress….Julia would flip over it, especially with the gold trim. Why have I never made this pattern?? Also, I have so enjoyed all your makes for Disney!
Oh my!! This pattern screams, JULIA!! She would totally rock this style . . .
Love the gold trim and fancy hair!
Thankful the “fancy hair” still did the trick for her!!
This is so cute! I love this dress!
Easy peasy! *We needed some of those for our Disney Sewing Task!!
