As with the “Flip this Pattern” series, the February “Free for All” comes with a perk for us!!! You see, utilizing free patterns / tutorials while sewing for our nieces is NOT one of our strengths! We see the benefits of doing so {and there are some fabulous resources available to be successful in the endeavor}, but don’t sew with them nearly often enough.
However, through the February “Free for All”, we anticipate a collection of wonderful FREE pattern / tutorials linked up by you, AS WELL AS some amazing creations you’ve sewn using the free patterns.
More often than not, YOU are our inspiration when scheming our next creation….so, why not plan a series “twist” to help us even more :). Yep. That’s the way we work. So, THANK YOU!! Thank you for giving us endless sewing options and continuing to inspire us to try new and different patterns as we create.
That’s not to say we haven’t sewn anything using FREE patterns / tutorials. We have. A few times…
Such as The Birthstone Dress {the Vintage Feedsack Dress pattern by Craftiness is not Optional, with few modifications}. It was one of those true labors of love!! French knot after French knot after French knot…
And, then there was the Emma Dress {sewn for a Project Run and Play, sew-along signature style}. This is, to this day, still one of our sister’s favorite dresses for the girls!!
Then, there was our VERY first Project Run and Play sew-along entry which was a re-mix of Dana’s free circle skirt tutorial.
Again, we were able to incorporate a free pattern in a Project Run & Play sew-along entry {Earth Day Challenge} by using the free Oliver + S Popover Sundress.
Then, the following year, using the same pattern, we created a faux romper look as well.
Project Run and Play’s Remix Challenge encouraged us yet again to sew a FREE pattern – this time using the Spring Fever Dress {by Jess, of Me Sew Crazy}. Any tuck lovers out there?!?! We can always count on Project Run and Play to push us out of our comfort zone…
Then, there was this “never blogged about” creation using the free Oliver + S ruffle halter top.
Then, we had a stint of FREE hat patterns…First, a free bonnet from Lisa, of Mommy’s Apron Strings….
And, then some FREE bucket hats from oliver +s….
Finally, while we know we’ve got LOTS of room for improvement….a few FREE items of our own:
And, some easy-peasy Bubble Sacques for a Baby
And, there you have it….some creations we’ve made using FREE patterns and/or tutorials!! We hope we were able to inspire you a little as well in the February “Free for All!”

Gorgeous creations, as always!
You know what? Dana’s circle skirt was also my first creation for PR&P! Cool coincidence, right?
Well that’s quite an impressive collection of sewn freebies!
