Children’s Corner, Lucy with Liberty

The Children’s Corner, Lucy is a sweet summer addition to any child’s wardrobe. We sewed, LG a size 4 of this pattern. Sewing for LG is special in and of itself {because it doesn’t happen very often, excluding Easter}, however we decided to step it up a notch and add a little detailing.

Children's Corner, Lucy

Reverse applique circles?? Are you kidding me?!?!?

Children's Corner, Lucy

We think she is a fan!  What do you think?

Children's Corner, Lucy

The Children’s Corner, Lucy is a perfect pattern to use reverse applique detailing because it is a fully lined dress – thus covering up the reverse applique stitching.

Children's Corner, Lucy

LG was mesmerized trying to count the circles on her dress during the photos. Fine by us!

Children's Corner, Lucy

She thought there might be four circles. . . since she was four.

Children's Corner, Lucy

But then she found more on the back side . . . and she was in shock!

Children's Corner, Lucy

The idea of reverse appliqued circles did not originate with us. Katy, of No Big Dill, had used this technique on a skirt and had share some of the details about its construction. We’ve had some fun with reverse applique ever since, as evidenced HERE {a Project Run and Play entry}, HERE {Sew Ready to Play}, and HERE {with another Lucy}.

Children's Corner, Lucy

So, we thought: why not try it on the Lucy??

With a little Liberty of London??

Children's Corner, Lucy

Accenting with Liberty of London is so much fun! It doesn’t take much fabric, but looks oh so sweet when completed. . .

Children's Corner, Lucy

And friends, that’s a wrap for this post! We hope you will keep reading . . . keep sewing . . . keep smiling . . .

Children's Corner, Lucy

Beautiful girl in a beautiful dress! I love the idea of using Liberty fabric for the reverse applique as it is expensive so using a little is a good thing – and this design makes a little go a long way. Gorgeous (just like everything else you make)!

Adorable, as usual! I love how LG was looking for and counting all the bubbles! I have to try the reverse applique soon. I have done a lot of regular applique over the years, especially this this past year. I have only recently (2018-19) fallen in love with the CC ‘Lucy’ and have made three of them in the last ten months. Two of them have been posted this past month on my blog. I have ordered the new edition of the pattern for the expanded sizing and have a couple planned already!
