Recently, we sewed a “new to us” pattern: the Children’s Corner, Ruthie Dress.
While this pattern is far from new, it is one we hadn’t utilized to date in its entirety.
We had used this pattern’s sleeves with another creation, and liked the outcome.
So it was just a matter of time before we sewed it “as is.”
This dress has such a classic, sweet design. We sewed the size 6 for EA, and the fit was {as it is always with Children’s Corner patterns and our nieces} spot-on!!
We find ourselves liking button front dresses . . .although LG has been known to argue button front closures vs. garments that button down the back.
And, remember that reference to EA “losing the opportunity to have covered buttons on the front of an outfit”??
Yeah . . .this was it!! The gingham covered buttons were sooo cute, and coordinated so nicely with the piping too . . .
But, alas, someone made a day of dissecting all but two them by the end of ONE. SCHOOL. DAY!! Sheesh . . .
We found some sweet gray replacements that worked well too, but uuugghhhh on the covered buttons {and what our niece may or may not have been doing all day long one day at school}.
But, we digress . . .
Here is our installment of the Children’s Corner, Ruthie Dress.
I love the gingham accents with this classic design! I think so far I’ve only put covered buttons on the backs of garments- I’m sure at least one of my daughters would enjoy dissecting them as well!
