Well, we finally made it . . . the end of our 2nd “Sewing for Disney” installment!
There was a vision for this creation – a vision that worked . . . sort of. . .
. . . Before it didn’t.
Tiana was a new character added to our “Sewing for Disney” series. But, what angle to take for her??
We sewed an Oliver + S, Ice Cream Dress (size 8}. It seems as if it is our “go to” dress for these Disney outfits – time and time again.
We detailed the dress with an additional frog, cattails, and a lily pad.
Then, we added some subtle sequined water ripples.
Still, we wanted M.O.R.E.
Cue: LED lights!
We added some LED lights to serve as fireflies, as well as an inner pocket to hold the battery pack.
We thought we had thought of it all! But then . . .
The tiny LED lights started detaching and popping through the back of the fabric.
By the time we saw Tiana, it was a “Project: FAIL”.
She was so gracious, nonetheless.
Once we returned from Disney, we took out the LED lights and added neon yellow French knots for the fireflies instead.
The result? Much more reliable . . . and comfortable.
