Tales from . . . THE BIN {Heirloom Dress}

Here’s another gem from the bin!

HeirloomEasterDress4

It’s an heirloom dress that Ashley sewed many, many years ago.

HeirloomEasterDress7

A light pink dress with beautiful lace trim on the hemline, as well as around the collar area.

EA truly likes her dress, the Child’s Wedding Ring Dress . . .but steps out her lace hem almost every time she wears it.

HeirloomEasterDress3

It has gotten a little better since she’s grown a bit.

Still, it has once again filled a void of “Sunday clothes” in her closet. You see, the many, many other dresses we sew just aren’t “Sunday clothes” enough for this child. They are all “school / play clothes”.

HeirloomEasterDress5

Unfortunately, we can’t keep up with this child’s “heirloom obsession!”

HeirloomEasterDress1

Glad she likes it . . .but we can’t keep the pace!

HeirloomEasterDress2

With that in mind, Easter will be here before we know it, and as “slow sewists” – we are looking for suggestions for go-to heirloom sewing patterns to use and be successful. Go easy on us . . .we are by no means heirloom experts!

That is so pretty! I love the sleeve details. I’m no help on heirloom patterns- I hope you can find some that are perfect for you!

Another stunning dress beautifully and lovingly made! I love how she has an “heirloom obsession”. Have you made the Heirloom Party Dress by Martha Pullen or any of the fancy Kay Giles dresses? Old Sew Beautiful magazines are full of heirloom patterns,too. Have you considered using beautifully embroidered vintage table linens and lace to create heirloom dresses a little quicker for EA? How about wide bordered white eyelet fabrics trimmed with more edgings? They are so pretty for church dresses, too.
