Last, but definitely not least, is happy baby LG {who is absolutely tickled to have handmades designed especially for her}!
When trying to decide which pattern would work for LG, we struggled with size availability. We felt like she needed long sleeves, but we also needed it in a size 3-6M. In the end, we opted to attempt to ‘downsize’ the playtime tunic to a smaller size. While the end result may not be perfect, we learned a lot in our pattern alteration class with Liesl that made this the most ‘legit’ run we’ve ever made in pattern grading.
Also, Sister Momma adores the ease of bubble sacques in changing diapers, so we simply lengthened the skirt portion of the pattern and cinched it up using elastic in the hem.
Since technically this was designed to be Christmas pajamas, we added snap closures to the back. We used the same KAM snaps as were used on the older sisters’ pajamas {here and here}, which meant they didn’t match LG’s garment perfectly. We {well, Ashley} also learned that when touched by an iron, KAM snaps will melt. YIKES. They are plastic. DUH.
While the flannel should not need to be ironed necessarily, a seam was being pressed and a snap was touched inadvertently. Just something to keep in mind, but you may not want to use them on clothing that requires heavy duty ironing.
Finally, we added some sweet trim on the yoke and Christmas lights to complete LG’s look.
So. . .how did we fare on our goals?
We wanted the girls to coordinate, but not be “matchy-matchy.” While we wouldn’t consider it a complete failure, it was a far cry from perfect. We struggled with our reds. Big sister and little sister matched one another perfectly, but their snaps didn’t match their outfits. Middle sister’s outfit coordinated perfectly with the snaps but not her other sisters’ attire. Survivable, yes. Perfect, no.
We wanted to use colors other than the typical red and green used for Christmas. Score.
We wanted to choose Oliver + S patterns that weren’t necessarily pajama patterns, but could function as such without being heavily modified. Score.
We really wanted the articles of clothing to serve a purpose greater than ‘just pajamas’, allowing the girls to actually wear the garments out in public! Score {for us anyway. . .you might not let your little one out in public in their ‘pjs’}.
A preschool Christmas party, musical production, and a trip to see Santa justified the “public wearability”!!
And finally, a goal we failed to mention originally. Finish before Christmas Eve. Score.
A little less than 2 weeks before the big night which is a major success for us! And because they love their new pjs so much, you can be sure they will be wearing them as long as they can squeeze into them – Christmas season or not!
And, since “GROUP PHOTOS” are always INTERESTING….Here’s a few for your enjoyment. Some of the girls’ personalities are really shining through in them!

Adorable! I loved those elastic bottom baby pjs when my kids were babies. All 3 turned out wonderful, so stylish and color coordinated. It was fun to see all 3 of them in one photo
Getting a photo with the 3 of them was hairy….at best!! Would love to do more of them, except I go prematurely gray every time we try to do photos like this…

Ohhhh, yes….”whole bunch of fun” describes them well… As well as “whole bunch of exhaustion” for some aunts.
