As many turn to their sewing machines to prepare for Easter, we thought we would share the nieces’ dresses from two years ago. Since we never did . . .
It seems we never posted Easter 2018 creations . . . . but, since we went “vintage”, perhaps each post will still be timely {and useful}.
That’s right! Each girl ‘s Easter dress was created from an older, Children’s Corner pattern.
EA’s dress originated with the Children’s Corner, Denise.
The main variation was lengthening the original pattern pieces to create a long dress.
We sewed a size 7, and added 12″ to the length. We adjusted the hem to be 6″, and increased the original length of the dress by 10″.
Her sleeves were slightly modified – by adding 1″ to the length before adding entredeaux to the sleeve band.
The collar was made by sewing several laces together to create a round, lace collar.
EA LOVES a long dress, however we felt as if this pattern did not look proportional after adding the additional length.
In our attempt to make it more heirloom for Easter, we may have overcompensated on the length.
The Denise is a sweet pattern, and one we would like to sew again. It’s definitely a classic!
