We don’t cry over many of our creations. In fact, off the top of my head – I can think of one other. However, this one brought tears to one of us!!
Goodness. Why do we get so invested in these garments??
Sewing should NEVER bring on the water works – unless it is tears of joy . . .
I guess it is because we want things to be “right” . . . and this one didn’t meet those expectations.
Previously, we sewed CL a “Cinderella Dress“, but this time it was EA that requested one of her own!
We sewed the MADE EVERYDAY, First Day Dress {with circle skirt} in a size 8 for EA.
The bodice fit was SPOT. ON.
The length? Not so much!
And, then, there wasn’t enough fabric for a complete re-do. Not to mention, there was too much time invested in the skirt portion leading up to our snafu.
Ugh. So, we tried a “large hem” as a work-around.
Note to self {and anyone else that might attempt this}: Large hems don’t mix with circle skirts. PERIOD!
The end result just seemed “awkward” to us – the placement of the words in relation to the hem line, etc.
Now, enough on the negative . . . on to the POSITIVE!!
EA L.O.V.E.D. this creation!! {Okay, truth be told – she liked a LOT of the items we sewed for Disney . . . which we consider a BIG win}.
The eyelet trim was probably her favorite part of this creation – she felt soooo “fancy” . . . as noted in her curtsy stance over and over and over again in the photos taken!
She gushed over the eyelet more than the “bibbidi bobbidi boo” wording OR the “glittery, glass slipper” within the skirt portion of the dress.
GLITTER: Yep. Something else we said we would never do!! Three coats of glitter spray later . . .it was ready to sew onto the skirt.
Never. Say. Never . . . EVER!!
