When pushed for time, go with “familiar”.
Cue, the Oliver + S, Family Reunion for CL’s family photo dress of choice.
Incorporating two colors from LG’s Children’s Corner, Aprons {Carol} dress, we sewed CL a size 6 of the Oliver + S, Family Reunion.
Then, to further make the outfits cohesive . . .but NOT matching, we used the Children’s Corner, Aprons main fabric as the Oliver + S, Family Reunion‘s hem facing and sleeve lining.
The sleeves were piped in gold, further tying the color scheme together.
We had some vintage buttons that we were a part of our childhood memories – from mom’s “button box” – that were perfect for the front dress tab.
The dress was lengthened 1 1/2″, and the hem facing was hand-stitched in place.
It’s funny . . . we debated whether to “go bold” for these photos. Typically, we select heirloom dresses, or at least pastels / a muted color palette, when we sew.
We still wanted to remain true to our “style” of details, piping, modernizing a vintage look, and classic lines.
Heirloom was “out” due to time constraints, and we decided to take a chance on bold and bright.
The girls are older now, and the bold pops of color might lend themselves to a photo shoot.
Tickled pink . . . or should we say “tickled jade”?
It worked! The photos were fabulous, and the girls were striking in their new attire.
Speaking of bold . . . the boldest move is yet to come, and we can’t wait see what you think of it!
