We always enjoy sewing a Children’s Corner pattern . . .it’s an added bonus when it is a NEW pattern {ahem . . . as of last year :). . . still behind on blogging a bit here}.
Last winter, we were given the opportunity to sew a Children’s Corner, Victoria.
Since we were waaaaaaaay behind on our “winter sewing”, we opted to sew a Christmas / winter version of the dress for EA.
We sewed a size 8, with no additional length.
And since we’ve been a bit obsessed with ruffle collars as of late, we chose to sew the ruffle collar version with long sleeves and a button closure.
Instead of using the ruffle collar pattern piece, we used eyelet on the collar.
The eyelet was approximately 2 1/4″ wide, and after allowing for a 1/2″ seam allowance at the neckline – the “ruffle collar” ended up 1 3/4″ wide.
The Victoria dress is a good, staple dress pattern. One that has multiple options – both as a long sleeve version and a short sleeve version.
The fit is SPOT. ON. for our nieces, time and time again. This time around, EA got two years of wear out of this dress . . . “Absolutely awesome!”, we say!
The final version of the pattern included the sash being shortened. Good call, we say! Good call!
