We had a vision for the Oliver + S, Badminton Dress.
We had talked about doing this creation for over a year.
We thought there would be a “WOW FACTOR” upon its completion.
But, we were left with a lackluster response . . .from ourselves. We think we went “too conservative” – by adding lace detailing without enough of a stark contrast.
We are calling this our downfall!
The lace, used in place of the front casing, just blended into the peach fabric.
The lace used in place of the flutter sleeves turned out nicely, and it would be something we would consider doing again.
Besides the lace additions, our fabric selected required that we line the dress. We also chose to finish the dress as a straight hem – instead of a scalloped one.
Sure, this dress is a sweet sundress for summer, but it didn’t live up to our vision.
Perhaps a blue and white combination would be better suited for the finished outcome.
Have you ever sewn something that was a “let down”?
Ours was a sweet garment . . . but kind of “blah”.
