Baby Gifts of Sugar and Spice

Do you sew for others {to sell or otherwise}?

We generally sew only for our nieces. They keep us busy . . . and we are always running behind on our mental “to do” list for each one of them.

Still, there are times when we sew baby gifts for friends.

Thus was the case with these dresses.

CCMia6

We used the Children’s Corner, Mia pattern to sew two dresses – both size 18 mo – for two expectant mothers.

It is a pattern we would not have looked twice at, but after seeing a child wear it . . . decided we really needed it. And, we really needed to sew it.

Our nieces have been the recipients of a few Mias {back in the day} as seen HERE {pre-blogging days} and HERE.

For the first gifted dress, we added mini ric rac {as suggested by the pattern, and as we had done in the past}.

For the second one, we added eyelet in place of the ric rac.

Children's Corner, Mia

SWOON!! We fell instantly in love with this look. . .

And now we want to only sew the Children’s Corner, Mia with eyelet trim.

This modification required very little brain power. We lined the sleeves to create a cleaner finish, but serged / used a zig zag stitch for the other eyelet additions.

It’s a rewarding change to sew for others . . .something that gives a little bit of yourself in the process!!

Adorable little dresses! They make lovely gifts. I recently (within the last year or so) purchased that pattern but I haven’t made anything with it yet. I sew for others all the time. Lots of gifts for the children of friends. Occasionally, I sew something to sell.

    It’s a precious baby gift {at least we think so . . .}!
