EA is a “thinker”. She always has been . . .and hopefully always will be!
Immediately upon trying on this latest creation, she gleefully announced – I’m like an Indian girl!! She went on and explained that girls in India wear outfits “JUST. LIKE. THIS!” {ie: a blouse and a navy skirt} to school.
She was GIDDY with the ensemble, to say the least!
Oh, and if you were curious – “Boys outfits look like this too, but they have bow ties.”
We think she saw it as a “school uniform” {something she isn’t required to wear}, but for some reason only associated school uniforms with children from India.
This might qualify as a fabric DEstash . . . AND a pattern DEstash. Both of these items had been in our possession for quite some time!!
We sewed the Children’s Corner, Katie Skirt in a size 5, with size 6 length {adding 1″ to hem}. Some of the features remind us of the Oliver + s, Music Class Skirt.
We didn’t sew the blouse – saving us some time on the final product!
EEK!! Don’t those knee socks raise the bar on the entire outfit?!?!?
Hindsight: We should have sewn the skirt in a size 6, OR not made the elastic quite as tight . . .
This is definitely a pattern we’d like to sew again – but, perhaps next time in a quilting cotton. The weight of the main material, along with the skirt being lined, created some bulky seams.
As for the hair? We tried . . .
But will try harder next time . . .
I love the texture of that fabric! Little thinkers and the interesting things they come up with are a joy to be around. =)
The texture is neat . . . but it was a pain to sew!!
I love the fabric! The skirt is perfect!
Thanks, Olga!!
