With every project, there comes a time when you get “cold feet” . . . .
Sewing for Disney: Alice was that time for us.
We knew how to truly give Alice a proper “nod” in our sewing projects, yet feared the result.
So, we went low risk.
Extremely low risk.
So much so, Alice almost got lost in our creation.
We sewed an Oliver + S, Birthday Party Dress {sz 5, with 2 inches added in length}.
The blue selected was a bolder blue than an “Alice blue”, and we opted to only use white on the front tab {instead of down the middle panel as well}.
See . . .LOW RISK.
We piped the tab in black, added black buttons down the back, and gave EA a black headband to wear to complete the look.
We see Alice, but no one else does.
It didn’t stop us from going on a Wild “White Rabbit” Chase!
And, success was on our side.
{Although we were glad THIS Alice used better judgment before plunging into the White Rabbit’s hole.}
That’s alright . . . it’s a sweet dress, that will be worn over and over and over again. Alice or not!
One more random thought before we sign out: Have you ever thought about how many Disney princesses / characters wear shades of blue??
Alice, Elsa, Cinderella, Jasmine, Belle {village attire}, Ariel {while on land}, Donald Duck, Anna, Wendy . . . Goodness, I’m sure there are more than that!
Point is: THERE ARE LOTS.
Thus, making it even harder to creatively giving a nod to one . . .without someone thinking it is another.
Love the piping!!!!! Great dress and pictures!
As long as she wears the headband it definitely says ‘Alice’ to me! I love the piping and those black buttons!
Oh no definitely Alice to me!
Thanks for validating our “Alice sewing”, ladies!! And, yes – the headband is a MUST with this outfit :).
