This child. . . .she never fails to surprise us . . .

The latest one?

We sent her “shopping” {through our pre-selected fabric stash} for a new outfit.

Oh, the florals, polka dots, and bright / vibrant colors displayed in the 12 options!!

And, then there was one. . .

A piece of fabric that really didn’t belong.

One that seemed misplaced . . .

One that was definitely an outsider . . .

One that ALMOST wasn’t given as an option, but put out at the last minute . . . because we “KNEW” she wouldn’t look twice at it.

Well, she didn’t look twice at it. Instead, she grabbed the “oddball” fabric IMMEDIATELY, and EMPHATICALLY stated she wanted “that one.”

There was no discussion . . . her mind was made up!

We livened it up, as best we could . . .with none other than pops of PINK {topstitching and buttons}!

We also cut the bodice area on the bias to create a little variation, as well as not have to worry about lining up the print between the bodice and skirt pieces.

And, yes . . . she did indeed look as cute as could be {and proud as punch!}!!

So, consider this a lesson learned {but one we wouldn’t replace}.

If you ever give your “customer” a choice on fabrics, be prepared for the least expected and be ready to work with the option selected. No matter what!
