You may have heard the news, but there is a new, DARLING, dress pattern that has hit the PDF world this week. . .
After seeing Olga’s creation of her upcoming pattern, The Eleena Dress, we KNEW we wanted to sew one for our niece . . . AND SEW IT SOON!
We were smitten!!
You see, we struggle with finding “winter patterns” {ie: those with long sleeves} that we adore. However, THIS. WAS. IT!
We know . . . it was probably the vintage feel of the pattern that drew us in. . .
Hello, 1960s!! *Our FAVORITE sewing / clothing era . . .
So, we applied to “pattern test” the dress {that, in and of itself, shows our love of this style}, and were elated to be selected to sew a version prior to its release.
Per Coffee & Thread: The Eleena dress is a 1960s inspired A-line dress that features an inverted pleat and an invisible zipper in the back. There are three sleeve options to choose from – short set in sleeves, long sleeves with cuffs and flutter sleeves. The unique collar completes the look. The Eleena dress is available in sizes 2 through 12 years. This is a confident beginner friendly pattern.
While there are several sleeve options to this dress, we chose to sew a collared, long sleeve version of the Eleena Dress {size 4}. And, of course, added some coordinating piping to complete the look!!
A touch of Liberty seemed to dress up the simple, classic style.
This was our first Coffee & Thread pattern to sew. Olga was a delight to work with . . . .and the pattern testing group was phenomenal. These ladies could sew!! And, sew fast!!
The hardest part of the dress for us was the zipper. Largely, in part, due to our little {to no} experience with sewing a zipper. In fact, we could probably count on our hands the number of zippers we’ve sewn in garments. So, that said, take that with a grain of salt . . . and don’t put too much stock in our definition of “difficulty!”
We couldn’t be more pleased with the outcome of the dress. EA was in dire need of some more winter dresses {ie: her FAVORITE thing to wear these days}, so the Eleena Dress fit the bill perfectly!
PLEASE NOTE: In honor of its release, the Eleena Dress is currently on sale for $7.00 {regularly priced $9.00} until Friday, January 29 at midnight, EST.
I love it so much! You choice of fabric is perfect! She looks so beautiful! Thank you so much for all your help!
Still swooning over this style of dress . . . LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the lines of it. Thanks for designing the pattern.
I love the cute vintage style of this dress! The Liberty accents are perfection.
You version is perfect, I love how you made different choice of accent fabric, sleeves and piping instead in the front.
Beautiful!! I love the piping and cuffs.
