That’s right. We were lazy . . .
Scratch that. We were smart!
ONE dress . . . TWO holidays.
BAM!
We wanted a simple, striking Christmas dress for CL.
But, then . . . we realized if we sewed it as planned, it would not only work for Christmas. . .
It would also be great for Valentine’s Day as well.
Again . . .BAM!
We sewed the Children’s Corner, Rose {size 3} with no modifications . . . unless you count the fact we didn’t hem it quite as much as stated.
Our main area of concern was the red / white combination – and the potential of the red corduroy fabric bleeding onto the white. We’ve had some problems with that in the past using a vinegar and salt solution. So, we researched and asked around. After washing our initial fabric once {and turning the color catcher dark red}, we set the fabric with Retayne according to package directions. Since then, the garment has been washed {with another color catcher that turned light pink} and the colors did not bleed into one another. SCORE!
It was an easy, quick sew!! THANKFULLY . . . since we’ve got one more Christmas dress to share with you this week!
I love the look, I think it will also work great for Easter 😉
I was trying to do something similar and bought fabric that would work for Thanksgiving as well as Christmas… but I ordered it too late and didn’t get the dresses done in time, so they are just Christmas dresses after all!
Love the piped yoke on this!
That stinks!! But, I’m glad you made the Christmas deadline . . .
Oh what a gorgeous smile
She looks great in her new double celebration dress
Thanks, Jenya! She keeps us laughing . . . must be a characteristic of a middle child :)!
