Inquiring minds want to know: What exactly is our “February FREE for All” that will kick start the Spring 2015 season of “Flip this Pattern?”
When discussing which twists we would like to incorporate into “Flip this Pattern“, one of the first ideas that came to mind was to involve FREE patterns. But what season should we add this fun twist? After the ruthless spending of the holidays, we honed into February for “cutting back.” And besides, February and Free begin with the letter F, so it was a match made in “sewing heaven.” The stars were aligned, and it was official.
This month is all about one word: FREE!!! It’s a month where EVERYONE is a competitor, and no specified patterns are named {other than FREE ones, selected by you}. It’s going to be a collection of wonderful resources for FREE, children’s sewing patterns….and one we hope you will utilize over and over and over again!
Today opens our first of two linky parties, and we need your help! Link up any and all of your favorite FREE children’s patterns OR tutorials. Maybe you’ve used the tutorial or pattern before, or it might be one that you’ve seen and want to give a try! Maybe you even have something FREE on your site that you’d like to do a little self-promotion for. By all means, link-up!
When looking for the perfect free pattern or tutorial, the internet is a vast source of possibilities!
Both Craftsy and SewSet have patterns for sale, but they also have a plethora of free tutorials and patterns. Be sure to check them out.
Also, if you are looking for a very thorough post on free children’s patterns and tutorials on the web, be sure to check out this fabulous post {it’s an absolutely amazing resource for free patterns} written by Ari of Max California.
And then, Lindsay of The Cottage Mama, recently released a wonderful round-up of FREE dress patterns…. WOW, just WOW!!
What about specific designers who have lots of freebies available? The first two that came to mind for us were Shauna of Shwin Designs and Liesl of oliver + s, but there are plenty more!
Dana, Jess, and the dynamic Simple Simon pair of liZ and Elizabeth ALL offer amazing tutorials and helpful hints when sewing a variety of projects.
Also, if you are like us and want to make the most of this challenge, what about sewing up Project Run and Play‘s challenge for this month based on a free pattern by Susan of Living with Punks.
Or for all of you participating in KCW’s recycle challenge, why not even get more “bang for your buck” by stitching up something recycled from a free pattern!
The possibilities are endless. . .but if these ideas aren’t enough, for the next two weeks we will have three bloggers per day showcasing one of their favorite free patterns/tutorials to inspire you!
We’d love for you to join us!! Link-up some favorite free children’s patterns or tutorials…and tomorrow we’ll be back with a linky party especially for your “FREE for All” creations and the sew-along prizes that will be up for grabs!
See you then. . .
