Ooooh Laura, this is stunning! I love the fabric you used, and the piped hood too. Norah also demanded a hood to her new coat, but honestly, I was too lazy. I regret that now that I see your beautiful hood!
Thanks, An. That’s funny – the one thing I regret is leaving off the collar – I just couldn’t get the hood and collar to work together – but I know a great collar could totally make this coat!
really, really lovely. Well done
Beautiful coat and the details are fantastic!
Wow! lovely! Gorgeous colour, I’ve been trying to find wool for a coat for Missy, and it’s not easy. Too many wool fabrics are a bit dowdy for a little girl. This is lovely. Can I ask how much fabric it required?
And, yes I don’t doubt the amount of time this took! It’s the thinking and planning that takes ages. Every little detail needs consideration. Amazing work!
I know what you mean about the wool. This one was only £8.95 a metre as well! I got carried away and bought three metres but think I used just over 1 metre (it’s very wide). The pattern calls for 1.75 yards for 60-inch wide fabric.
Wow, this is amazing,I want one for myself
Laura, this is gorgeous! Glad to see you sewing again!
Gorgeous, Laura!
My kids love wrist cuffs with thumb holes! And hoods too…
It is the most fantastic winter coat I have seen. Beautiful and your daughter will love it forever
Thanks for all the lovely comments. I would love to enlarge this pattern to adult size. Margot wore it to school for the first time today – not a moment too soon as there was frost on the ground this morning. I’m so pleased there’s a bit of growing room as well!
I think this might be the most beautiful and special handmade coat I have ever seen! Just wow.
wow – this is absolutely stunning! you nailed it!
Simply stunning!! You matched it all perfect!! All the details are perfect. It seems so comfy and elegant at the same time.
Congratulations on your wonderful work.
I love this! The added hood and pockets- brilliant! And such fun colors.
!!!
You really outdid yourself, Laura! So much thought and detail went into it!
WOW!! This is so precious – I love your use of colours it really gives the coat something extra special.
Every part of this coat is absolutely amazing! I am so in love with your flip. <3
I loved the ‘behind the scenes’ information about the planning process you and Margot did leading up to the finished product!! Great “flip”….great coat!
This is absolutely fantastic!!! Loooove it so much! Really Laura what a great flip! Totally worth the extra time and Love!
This is simply fantastic! Love your color choice, and that lining looks cozier than anything! Your added details certainly make it the most perfect coat ever and it was certainly worth the unfed, unwashed children:)
I especially love the paspelsack on the inside (how do you say it in English? Pipingsack)
Really very, very pretty! I love the adjustments you made.
I am in love with this coat! The colors, shape, fabrics, pockets, hood, everything! I want one in my size!
This is the most beautiful coat and attention to detail! I can just see you an Margot sipping hot chocolate and planning it.
All I want for Christmas is one just like it in my size! Hugs! Kelli
