We made a promise…It was talked up…It was planned… And, we were ready to make some special memories with the nieces!!
The girls would have a “CAMP OUT” the next time they came for a visit. Little did we know it, but that visit would happen with the birth of LG!!
Still, a promise is a promise – so, CAMP OUT it was!!
We roasted marshmallows and ate smores.
The girls “caught” fireflies – the game wasn’t worth the investment, but surely we can think of another use for those nets!!
And, EA slept in a tent for the week {INSIDE….so we didn’t ‘rough it’ too, too much}.
It must have been a hit, because EA has already put in her request for another CAMP OUT {ie: building a fire and eating smores} on another visit.
Of course, camping wasn’t the only thing we did through the course of the week.
We played school and worked on our uppercase and lowercase letters, as well as self-portraits. Pictured below is EA, drawn entirely by EA, blue lips and all!!
Then, we visited a school and its playground.
We went shoe shopping.
We made apple juice popsicles {and brownies, although there are no pictures of that}.
And, EA “made” a button blanket for LG. She was sooooo proud of sewing those buttons on the scrap piece of fabric, and picking out some extra special ones to include.
And, as the grand finale, we went to a local splash pad!!
LOADS of FUN was had by all!
We found some “repeat activities” for another trip…..but, we may have a few more tricks up our sleeves yet!! Actually, EA has requested an activity using Granddaddy’s expertise on the next trip…and when that happens, we’ll be sure to snag a few pictures along the way.
Oh, my goodness! Can I send my kids to stay with you some time? They love to do all those things! I know you had a great time keeping the girls, and they will always have the memory of this fun trip to hold over LG’s head when she is older. EA’s self portrait cracks me up–she even added eyelashes! You two are such sweet aunts to entertain them!
Absolutely – send them our way :), although I’m not too sure how eager they’d be to come!! Yes, the eyelashes and blue lips were quite the area of interest for her….
OH, ladies, what generous aunties you are!! It all looks like a lot of fun, but must have been a lot of hard work, as well. I especially love the eldest niece’s expression about toasting the marshmellows. I hope you have a special box for the drawings, and the ones to come. They are to be treasured.
Yes…the marshmallow expression was pretty priceless {city girl…..}. And, we are definitely storing away some of her artwork for posterity!!
I would have loved something like this when I was young… you two must be the best aunties ever! The blanket EA “made” is really sweet. =)
Well, we clear the calendar for these girls…..they wear us out, but are so much fun to entertain!!
BEST. AUNTS. EVER!!
