March’s pattern company is one we’ve admired since we began sewing and blogging! So, what better opportunity than to throw Melissa of Blank Slate Patterns in the “pattern flipping mix” than through designating one of her patterns as the “Flip this Pattern” for March???
But, which pattern to choose?? We had previously purchased the Pattern Anthology Sun and Surf Collection that included the Beachy Boatneck and the Coastal Cargos….both of which are perfect for either the girl or boy in your sewing life.

Then, last year, Melissa offered her readers the opportunity to have input on her final pattern for her spring/summer collection. All one had to do was “link up” an inspiration, and she would select one of the items to use as a springboard for her pattern. Enter, The Fresh Bloom Frock, linked up by…..yours truly!! Cuteness, huh??

And then, one can’t go wrong with staples like these, can they???

Truth be told, we’ve only sewn one Blank Slate Pattern – the W Pants, albeit a “flip” of them, into a skirt {you can read about it here}.
And while we see the alarming trend of “pattern hoarding” instead of “pattern sewing” with the Blank Slate patterns, we have great plans to add to our “Blank Slate Pattern Sewing” in the upcoming year…..
In the end, we eventually opted to go with the Beachy Boatneck! The “Flip this Pattern” series needed a few more options for boys, yet it kept the possibilities endless for the girls as well!

So, for the month of March, we are asking our readers to “FLIP” the Blank Slate Patterns, Beachy Boatneck.
This garment is just another ‘blank slate’ for the “sewing artiste”,
