We DID it!! We finished with a “mini-FLIP” of our own as we ended
“Flip this Pattern: YEAR ONE” last week!
And, in our defense, it WAS completed within the month of flips
for The Cottage Mama, Run-Around Romper.
The flips were minimal….but that’s how we typically roll! And, since these photos have been taken, the buttons have been moved an inch, giving an overall better fit for CL {we sewed an 18 mo}.
We narrowed the leg openings slightly, by elasticizing the outer sides.
A casing was made, and 1/4″ elastic {2.5″ in length} was inserted and gathered in a 4″ area. It looked really sweet “as is,” but we opted to cover it with another “flip.”
Using the same technique as EA’s Clarissa Pants, we finished the legs of the romper.
The side button tabs complimented the leg ruching.
We lengthened the button tab, then gathered it to fit in the designated area {per pattern instructions}.
It was finished with a pop of neon grosgrain ribbon, used as piping, as well as a covered button in the neon grosgrain ribbon. This was the first time we used grosgrain ribbon as piping. It created a different, textured affect … but, note to self: it isn’t the best to use around curved edges.
There you have it – our final HOORAH to “Flip this Pattern: YEAR ONE!”
Now, to get our “FLIP ON” as we enter “Flip this Pattern: Summer 2014!”
That is an adorable romper! I love the detail on the legs and the tabs
I love seeing a “girlified” FLIP with this pattern! So cute! And thank you for linking up to the party!!! http://www.sewingmamaraeanna.com/2014/06/romper-week-kick-off.html
