Hello Sewing Friends,
I am so happy to be participating in my second “Flip this Pattern” with the lovely ladies at Frances-Suzanne.
My outfit is called “Zippy Frogs”!
I called it that because my main “flip” was adding a zipper to the front and eliminating the buttons. This is to make it easier for my 3 year old to “go potty”. I was happy that my daughter trained him at barely 2 years old, but it put an end to the adorable one-piece outfits I love!
Other ways I “flipped” the run-around romper:
eliminating side seams for continuity of the novelty frog print,
making the neck and armhole openings more fitted,
making the outfit cooler by eliminating the lining
binding the openings with gingham bias binding I made.
I was hoping to take pictures at out little town beach or at a farm nearby, but I am in New England and even though the calendar says “May” our weather still says “March”. It has been in the 40s and rainy. I thought this would be a good outfit for the beach, fishing, or enjoying the playground. I think it would even work for preschool.
Here’s a closer look at the fabric. It’s “Scuba Frogs” by Michael Miller trimmed with 100% cotton gingham in lime green. I made size 4. The froggies are “flipping” for this outfit- I hope you do, too! I would love to have you visit me at my blog: http://mommysapronstrings.blogspot.com/ where I share my stitching adventures and I also offer some free patterns. Thank you, Ashley and Emily, for inviting me to “Flip this Pattern!”
Such a lovely flip, Lisa!
The frog print is perfect for a trip to the seaside (and yes, love it paired with the green gingham).
Congratulations!
Lisa, great idea to add a zipper to the front! I am all about ease when it comes to dressing! Nice job!
Very Nice Flip!! I love all the “flips” about this & the fact that the frogs are “flip”ping also!!! SEW cute!! Well Done!
Zippers HAVE to be a major perk for a newly trained child….and, what freedom he has to dress himself. Great job, Lisa!
