After returning from our first trip to Disney with two of the nieces, we asked each one to tell us her favorite of the outfits sewn. CL, who has a knack a throwing us sewing “curveballs” so to speak, surprised us once more.
Safari . . .errr, should we say SHAFARI {to coin the vocabulary of a 3 year old}!!
Hands down, her favorite!!
We determined that we would sew her another “safari dress” for our return trip. She even went with us to the store to pick out her fabric. . .
We gave her 2 choices – one VERY similar to the original outfit, and another one that had more of a tribal flare to it.
She selected the one that mirrored the original one.
We sewed an Oliver + S, Jump Rope Dress {in a size 6, view A}, modifying the pockets by using the Oliver + S, Field Trip Cargo Pants pocket pattern. Contrasting fabric was used on the belt, sleeve tabs, inside of the placket, pocket flaps, and piping around the collar area.
Have we ever mentioned the imagination of this child?
Well, she has one . . . a BIG ONE!!
Send her on a imaginary safari, and there is NO TELLING what she might see along the way.
Use your imagination with these images – I’m sure they will pale in comparison to her imagination at work.
The dress was just as much of a hit as it was before . . .
But, possibly not her favorite . . .
Still, she was tickled to have such a loved outfit sewn once more, in a larger size!
