We warmed up to this pattern later than most Oliver + S patterns.
But since that time, we haven’t veered from our infatuation!
The Oliver + S, Apple Picking Dress incorporates a key feature that EA loves . . . a drop waist! This child has been a fan of the drop waist style from the moment she began formulating an opinion about her attire.
We had sewn this dress once before, and was met with SUCCESS!
This time around, the red plaid worked nicely for Christmas clothing . . . an added bonus this time of year.
We sewed a size 8, with no additional length at the hemline.
We did, however, add 1/2″ to the sleeve length.
Thankfully, the Oliver + S, Apple Picking Dress goes up to a size 12 . . . so we may enjoy a few more creations yet!
It’s lovely. I’ve only made this one once and was also on the fence about it until I sewed it. Lucky you to have a niece who loves the pattern. I’m digging her haircut too!
What a lovely dress and model. I loved it when it was popular in the late 60’s. Hoping y’all have a Merry Christmas. Love the name you picked for the dress.
She typically goes for anything drop-waisted . . .No haircut though . . .just pulled it back for quick pictures {and hairstyle was irrelevant in the scheme of things}.
