Since CL recently celebrated her FOURTH birthday and requested a “Princess Leia Star Wars” party {said in one breath}, we found ourselves in an unfamiliar area: Party Planning . . . for a four year old.

Of course, when asked what it meant to have a “Princess Leia Star Wars” party, CL promptly responded that it meant she could wear her hair in Princess Leia buns. Sounds easy enough, right? Yet, this party called for a bit more than Leia buns when it was all said and done.

Disclaimer: We are not extravagant party planners, and are quite happy /  content with a favorite meal and dessert of choice. That’s all we need.

We referenced Craftiness is Not Optional’s “Girly Star Wars Party” A LOT . . . and went from there. To begin, we ordered some invitations from etsy {that are no longer available} that were super, super cute . . . they fit with the “theme”, yet were still “girly”!

Drink / food items included:

Wookie Water, Yoda Soda {ie: green Hawaiian Punch}, Blaster Bullets {ie: pink jelly bellies}, and Star Wars Snacks {name cards available for download HERE}.

The Star Wars snacks were going to be teddy grahams and named Ewok Treats, but there were Star Wars characters teddy grahams at the grocery store that we ended up using instead.

We also made small, chocolate Star Wars figures using silicone molds.

Princess Leia cookies {bought from Sally} and cake {topper bought HERE} completed the selection.

For the party favors, each child received a homemade soap with a Star Wars figurine inside, some Star Wars stickers, and a Star Wars PEZ dispenser. There are so many fun Star Wars gift items, that it would be easy to get carried away on party favors . . . quickly! We saved getting carried away to the “activities” instead.

Activities included:

“Pin the Bun on Princess Leia”: We ordered this poster on amazon, then took it to Office Max to enlarge and laminate.

“Four Corners”: Four Star Wars character cards {download HERE} were spread around the room – one at each corner of a rug. One child turns his/her back to the others while they position themselves at a character card. Then, everyone freezes, and the child calls out a character’s name. If you are standing on that character, then you are “out”. The game continues until there is only one person left standing. He / she becomes the next person to call out character names. The games are fast, children are moving, and it is a lot of fun for everyone involved!

“Musical Chairs” using Star Wars themed songs, downloaded from iTunes.

“Where is C3P0?” We had a small C3P0 {from a cereal box prize} that we used for this game. One child is removed from the group, and C3P0 is placed in another child’s hands to hide {sit on it, hide it in his hands, put it under his shirt, etc}. The child returns to the room and has to determine who is hiding C3P0. Then, another child takes a turn until all children have participated. This game is quite amusing to play with four year olds because many just. can’t. keep. a. secret. **Our niece being the ring-leader.

Star Wars Bingo: We bought THIS game, and then simplified / modified it as cards with characters only {ie: without the numbers}. The Blaster Bullets were used for Bingo markers.

Crafts included:

Make R2D2. We began with the R2D2 outline found HERE, and simplified pattern pieces to fit {download HERE}.

The glittery, self-adhesive paper was purchased at Michael’s. Each child received a bag of R2D2 parts to use.

Make Yoda. After seeing THIS image on Pinterest, we made some pattern pieces {download HERE} and added a glittery light saber as a bonus! Again, the paper was bought at Michael’s . . .but none were adhesive except for the light saber, so glue had to be used for this project.  These pieces were also individually bagged and ready for use during the party.

Past that, there were also several coloring pages available to work on for any avid artists in the group.

The party was successful, and the children had fun!
