We prefer SIMPLE.
Some people might term it, LAZY!
Give us a pattern any day . . . and with no modifications? EVEN BETTER!!
Our fabric is generally SIMPLE {aka: SOLID} as well.
But destashing one’s fabric supply calls for some “out of the norm” sewing.
And this is, once again, a “destash sew!”
Technically, this sewing would classify as SIMPLE.
We sewed a size 5 of the Oliver + S, Sailboat Top . . .but lengthened it to a dress. We had sewn the sailboat top pattern a few other times {HERE and HERE}, but had only sewn it as a tunic / dress once before, using knit {seen HERE}.
This time, we straightened the hemline – instead of leaving the curved hem of the original shirt pattern.
The dress measured 26.75″ from the nape of the neck to the finished hem, with a 1.5″ hem.
We also had to add 2″ to the sleeve length. This girl has some LONG arms!!
So, there you have it!
The sailboat top makes a darling, dress . . . especially for the milder seasons.
Hurrah for sewing through the stash! I really like visible stitching for the facing on this pattern.
We are so pleased with ourselves for sewing with fabrics “in house” . . .but realized the other day that we have a ways to go before using it all . . .
