“The Bin” is back!!
This time with a creation “Sister Momma” sewed prior to having children….
We sincerely hope you don’t tire of these sorts of posts!!
Because, just between us….we don’t!
That hemline.
WE. HAVE. NO. WORDS.
Paired with THOSE. LEGS!! Cuteness overload {or so we think}!
The smocked dress shows its age, based solely on the hemline!!
CL loves her “roses dress”…and feels pretty special every time she wears it…
We THINK this dress is one from Australian Smocking and Embroidery….and, if any of you faithful AS&E sewists know which one, we would be thrilled to add the information to this post!

Addendum: The AS&E smocking plate has been identified {Thanks, Tamara!!}!!! It is from Issue No.40, 1997 and is the “Living Dolls” smocking plate. It was originally presented in the magazine as one of two corduroy rompers.

Again, we find ourselves thankful for each and every garment created before these nieces’ births!!

A beautiful classic smocked dress! Classic smocking never goes out of style. I love the hemline,too. A deeper hem helps the dress to hang better and after all that work, it makes lengthening the dress so much easier. You can tell how CL lover her pretty dress. I bet it is soft and comfortable to wear. You always do a steller job!

PS: I tried to find the smocking plate in my AS&E Index and the closest I came was”Sugar and Spice” from issue #35. Could you have used that plate and changed it around a little?
We will look it up and see if that might be it!! Many, many years have come and gone since it was finished, but we’d like to give credit to the design — if we could.

I recognise this smocking plate! It’s from Australian Smocking and originally on a corduroy romper! I made this for my first daughter and now you have inspired me to make it for my baby daughter! Just gorgeous as always. i really love seeing what you creative ladies come up with.
