When Grandmomma Decides

When we fabric shop, we typically make a day of it!

Karen Faylor, Savannah {sewn by Frances Suzanne}

Maybe it’s our daunting, self-imposed “sewing to-do” list…

Maybe it’s our indecisive nature…

Or maybe it’s the fact we want to make the most of an excursion…in a setting with lots of options.

Still, as some of you can personally attest to, WE. ARE. SLOW. SHOPPERS.

Occasionally, however, we MUST make decisions…and make them fast…and drag others along with us while doing so. This happened to be the case about a month ago, when our mom found herself “stuck” in a fabric store with us.

We had two upcoming projects {HERE and HERE} we were purchasing materials for, so we just knew we could be speedy. *Insert LOUD LAUGH here!!

Now, our mom is a very patient person. Scratch that…. Our mom is an extremely patient person.

She perused with us, sat, perused some more, sat, offered her two cents, and then sat some more.

In the time it took for us to make our two decisions, she had made one herself – in her words, she had found the sweetest, most beautiful fabric for the girls.

She raved about it. She gushed about it. She couldn’t take her eyes off of it.

So, as we paid, we made a third decision and bought the fabric….just for her. We didn’t exactly know what we’d make with it, but knew “Grandmomma” would be pleased with whatever it was…

In the month following, she was patient. Scratch that….she was extremely patient….as we marked items off our “sewing list.”

At first, we discussed making something for the “Nameless Niece,” but then decided to make something for CL – giving two girls the benefit of wearing “Grandmomma’s Selection.” This also meant we left the store with three outfits to make for three nieces. A first for us….

We ended up sewing Karen Faylor’s Savannah Sun Top and Bloomers, size 2.

Grandmomma was pleased. CL was pleased. And that friends, pleased us….

That is darling fabric for a little girl or baby, and it goes perfectly with the pattern you used for it. CL is adorable, as usual. =) I’m the same way when fabric shopping… slooooow.

I love this print (I think I’ve used a similar version, in blue, for my girl a couple of years ago) and, as usual, you didn’t go wrong with the pattern choice – perfection!
