The First Day Top {Dana of MADE}

So…..you heard us RAVE about MADE‘s latest pattern {The First Day Dress and Top} last week when we shared our version of the First Day Dress {sleeveless A-line Dress, size 3T}, and now it is time to share EA’s First Day Top.

FrancesSuzanneFirstDayTop7

As mentioned before, the First Day Top photos did not come without a little drama from a certain 3 year old! So, we improvised that night and asked little sister, CL, if she wanted to try on the outfit and have her picture taken.

FrancesSuzanneFirstDayTop10

Truth be told, we were in a panic. We NEEDED these pictures. Dana NEEDED these pictures. She was counting on us in the pattern testing process. And what good is pattern testing when you can’t show the garment’s fit on the child??

CL eagerly complied – immediately putting on the outfit, and grabbing a hand to go outside for pictures. PRECIOUSNESS!  And, with a response like that, how could we not share the results??

FrancesSuzanneFirstDayTop4

As you can see, this style of top is very forgiving! Did it fit CL?? No…but it wasn’t blatantly obvious either that it wasn’t intended for her {the shorts: more so….}.

FrancesSuzanneFirstDayTop9

CL measurements were less than the smallest size, yet she was able to pull off EA’s outfit without being dwarfed in the process!

FrancesSuzanneFirstDayTop3

We sewed the 3T A-line Top {with sleeves}, and lengthened it to a size 4.

FrancesSuzanneFirstDayTop2

EA wears her shorts EXTREMELY LOW, so we were hoping to offset this ‘style’ by lengthening the top for coverage. It appears we might need to lengthen it a bit more….

FrancesSuzanneFirstDayTop1

As for the rest of the story?? “Sister Momma” was able to get pictures of EA wearing her new top the next day….with no drama whatsoever!

FrancesSuzanneFirstDayTop8

EA likes her colorful wardrobe addition, and has found it to be “playground tested and approved.”

FrancesSuzanneFirstDayTop5

Yet another “staple item” to add to the girls’ wardrobe for many years to come!!

FrancesSuzanneFirstDayTop6

Speaking of that “staple item”, we have TWO WINNERS to announce from Thursday’s rafflecopter!! If your name is Mary Ann or Jeanine…CONGRATULATIONS!! We will be contacting you soon, and Dana will be sending you a copy of the First Day Dress and Top in the days to come.

Sad that you didn’t win?? Well, you can still go and purchase a copy for yourself HERE!

** Please note: The MADE: First Day Dress and Top was generously given to us, but as always everything written is our honest opinions.

I love that fabric! And what a darling CL is. EA may not have been cooperative on the right day, but the photos her momma took are sweet.

Yes….it’s all a matter of timing with her :)!! After these photos came though, I tried to get “Sister Momma” to become the chief photographer, but I didn’t get a commitment…
