Girls’ Day Out – Nashville

What happens when you get several ladies together…..with the same passion for sewing….and a packed itinerary, focusing on just that??

It’s the recipe for a perfect day! A time for sewing enthusiasts and bloggers to share with one another – on a more personal level, connecting names with faces, and learning more about their families and future goals. Veronica, of SewVery, planned a fabulous day of “sewing chat goodness”. Throw in some good food…..and we were set!

Our group was fluid through the day, with some coming and going, as their schedule allowed. Besides us, those attending were:

Carrie {**soon to delve into the blogging world}

Jenny {The Southern Institute}

Kelle {Ann Kelle}

Lindsay {Lindsay Sews}

Michelle {Handmade Martini}

RaeAnna {Sewing Mama RaeAnna}

and, our “hostess with the mostess”…Veronica {sewVery}

ChildrensCornerGROUP2We began the day at The Children’s Corner Store, catching up with the new owners – Emily and Karen. These ladies were super sweet to open up their store on a Saturday and let us peruse, shop, and question them at will.  Many of us could remember our first experience with Children’s Corner patterns, and how they molded us to become the sewists that we are today.

ChildrensCornerThen, it was off to The Fabric Studio, for its first day in business…… RaeAnna made the “first official purchase” for the store, and has some exciting plans for the fabric bought there {we can’t wait to see the final product!}.

FabricStudioLighting1The way the fabric was displayed was like no other store we had ever visit!! Such a neat concept!!

FabricStudioFabricAnd, yes…..a celebrity was among us…..Lindsay stopped long enough to have a photo taken by her published book! How exciting, huh!?!

LindsayBook

We saw some familiar fabrics…..from blogs we follow on the West Coast…..

so it was exciting to see some of those selections become available for our area as well.

We couldn’t find a prettier / more enticing background to stop for a photo opportunity!

All that shopping {and TALKING} gave us quite the appetite. So, we headed to Cantina Laredo for lunch. There, Jenny and Kelle joined us!

LunchGroup

The food was absolutely delicious, but the company was even better!

Feeling reenergized, we headed off to an antique store. Where Ashley found some amazing vintage buttons…..

and we lost Michelle briefly {talk about a great camouflage moment}.

OrangeMichelle

AntiquingWe then swung by Textile Fabrics, and are already making plans for reconvening there in June {for their 40% off semi-annual fabric sale}.

Then, it was on to Imogene and Willie’s, as well as veering off for popsicles and coffee along the way. ..

ImogeneandWillieIt was an absolutely phenomenal day – from beginning to end – and one that wouldn’t have been made possible without Veronica‘s meticulous planning and organization. We loved meeting up with “old blogging friends,” as well as becoming acquainted with “new blogging friends” in the process!! Now, let the countdown begin for another get-together this summer…who’s with us??

What an absolutely wonderful recap of our day! Can I just make a post on my blog for the recap that simply has a link to your post? Now that I am finished with my taxes, I hope to put together a post and start sewing some more. My new fabrics from our shopping spree are washed and ready to be made into something wonderful! So glad you two could make it to Music City for the day, and I hope you come back more often!

We are headed to Nashville the 1st weekend of May. Do you have any other fabric store recommendations and/or recommendations for antique shops? Even if a general area for the antique shops would be great. I’ve never been there and looking forward to shopping while my husband plays golf. :-)

Anita – Here’s another post about a previous trip to Nashville (some of the shops mentioned are in Franklin, TN, just south of Nashville) – http://www.francessuzanne.com/2013/07/fabric-shopping-with-friends.html. Also, Franklin has a X-LARGE JoAnn’s store. We only went to one antique store, but there are several in the area of 8th Avenue, as well as in Franklin. You’re sure to have fun!!!

I am so sorry I did not get to meet you when you came to Children’s Corner. Ginger Caldwell and I would have loved to have had a short visit with you. We started Children’s Corner 37 years ago and still own the pattern company. We certainly appreciate your kind words.

We would love to be involved in a future project with you.

With ward regards
Lezette

    Hey Ms. Lezette! Although we feel like we already ‘know’ you {you’ve gotten us out of numerous near sewing catastrophes with your video tutorials}, we hate that we didn’t get to meet you in person! We believe in your pattern company, and it would truly be an honor to work on a future project(s) with you! We will definitely be in touch. . .
