January “Flip this Pattern”: Competitors and Prizes

Let’s get the second half of the series underway, shall we?? January’s pattern has been introduced and a lovely discount code has been given {good through January 5}.
And, now it is time to “meet the competitors” for this month!
The January “Flip this Pattern” competitors have been chomping at the bit to show you their “Flipped Creations”….and they are ready to knock your sewing socks off…..trust us! But first, a little introduction of each is in order {introduced in the order of their upcoming “Flipped Appearance”}!
Janice {so-cal sewing mom}

Hi all! I’m Janice – mother of 4, lover of dogs, sewing, and basketball. I work full time, sew most of my 3 year old’s wardrobe, read all the sewing blogs, and am a fabric addict. To that end, I’ve even got a small on-line fabric business – kind of like an alcoholic owning a bar! I’ve sewed since middle school when we had home economics back in the day. I remember I made myself a brown no-wale corduroy blazer – a very ambitious project for a 13 year old! I’m so excited to be participating in this series….I’ve always admired the creations of the “Frances Suzanne” sisters, and I’m touched they asked me to join in!

Heidi {greendoodle}

Hello Frances and Suzanne readers.  I am Heidi from greendoodle and I am THRILLED to be here!  I always say I am a little bit good at a lot of things. I love to try my hand at new techniques whether it be sewing, crafting, or home repairs.   I am strangely passionate about children’s clothing and love that I can find friends through blogging who share the same obsessions.

I am Mom to twin 7 year old girls who are my world.  I love (almost) every minute of being their mom.  They are lovely girls who are incredibly patient with my measuring and pin pokes.  They are however, incredibly annoyed by photo shoots.

I am honored to play along with this beautiful pattern.  Frances and Suzanne share such beautiful and intricate work and it is a true pleasure to be here.
Al {Shaffer Sisters}
I could tell you about sewing, but I thought I would give you a little more insight to me. I LOVE MILK! Top on my bucket list growing up was to milk a cow by hand. The summer between my freshmen year and my sophomore year of college I found the means of accomplishing this goal. He was tall and strong and his parents owned a milk cow just down the road. The next Friday night with no other plans, I found myself headed to the little farm. And yes, it was awesome. Milking was a lot harder than I expected, but so cool. Just in case you’re thinking I’m a city girl, think again. I am country through and through (we grew up on a gravel road and I spent my summers riding my horse bareback with only a halter and twine for reins). It just so happens my dad was anti cattle. Ten months after fulfilling my dream of milking a cow, I was engaged to this tall handsome farm boy (in the very stall by the same cow that I first milked all that time before). Now we’ve been married four plus years and have two great kids. If there is one thing you can always find at my house, it’s milk. And if you’re wondering, I always sew with a glass of milk and a little chocolate hidden in my sewing drawer.

Cindy {Siestas and Sewing}
Flip profile picture
Hello!  I’m Cindy and I blog over at Siestas & Sewing.  I love the beach and most any outdoor activity…camping, hiking, river tubing, biking, just to name a few.  I’m mom to 3 girls (14, 8, and 6) and 1 boy (12) and between the four of them, they keep me pretty busy running to and from sport practices and activities.  We’ve experienced football (both flag and tackle), soccer, swimming, volleyball, ballet, wrestling, basketball, cross country, and indoor track & field over the years.  We’re in a slow period right now with only indoor track and wrestling going on.  More time to sew, right?;)
And speaking of sewing, my passion is making clothes that fit my kids–both their bodies and their personalities.  It’s become a little trickier as the kids get older but so far, I’m still sewing for all four of my kids.  Thank you, Ashley and Emily, for having me this month.  I’m looking forward to flipping the Clever Charlotte Chickadee pattern and seeing what the other competitors and sew-along sewists create!
********************************************************************************************
And, what competitor prizes are up for grabs this month?? How about a piece of every sewists’ dreams?? Patterns AND fabric will be the prize package for one of these lucky ladies, chosen as “viewers’ choice winner” at the end of the month!
Aside from the thrill of victory, the “viewers’ choice winner” will receive the following from our fabulous sponsors:
SPONSOR #1:
Who doesn’t love Birch fabrics???  The texture alone in these fabrics might cause one to swoon, but throw in the design component of each fabric line and …..insert audible gasp….. it is almost too much for the fabric lover to take! Birch Fabrics, mixes retro style with whimsical juvenile accents that lend themselves perfectly to nursery bedding, while still being sophisticated enough for pillows on your sofa, or curtains in your craft room. In addition, their fabric is produced from 100% organic cotton, and printed with low impact dyes.
Birch fabrics will be giving the winner 2 yards of fabric within a specified fabric line – winner’s choice of the fabric within the line!

SPONSOR #2:

Clever Charlotte has jumped in, and is offering a prize as well for the month of Chickadee Flips! This company prides itself in making patterns with a modern, ready-to-wear feel to them. Several patterns are already available for sale, and others are waiting in the wings at their online store. If patterns aren’t enough to whet your appetite, limited quantities of fabric, buttons, notions, sewing kits, and supplies are also available to order through Clever Charlotte.

Clever Charlotte is graciously giving the winner a $25 gift certificate to use at their online store.

And for the rest of you??? Well….the January Sew-Along Linky Party opens tomorrow….and an awesome prize for the winner will be announced at that time! It is sure to be another exciting month of FLIPS coming your way!!
