Signature Style {PR&P season 7, week 4, PART II}

“Sweet CL” has finally made an appearance for this season of PR&P!! Mind you….it was for the last challenge of the season….and it didn’t necessarily ‘match’ sister’s signature style. Still, similarities can be seen throughout the two creations….
FRANCES SUZANNE’S SIGNATURE STYLE: TAKE TWO…..
Solid colors, piping, a vintage flair, collars, pleats, tucks, hand embroidery….
sometimes all of these characteristics, sometimes just a few.
No collar on this creation, nor do we believe straight stitching would qualify as
‘hand embroidery’…..Nahhhh, probably not!
Still, many ‘Signature Style’ components are evident in this little number….
so we decided it would indeed count as our “Signature Style”, take two.
We began with the Children’s Corner, Lucy and modified it – splitting the dress into a yoke and skirt section, as well as creating an inverted pleat of coordinating fabric underneath the main garment.
Unbeknownst to us, it had more of a ‘vintage flair’ than originally intended.
Check out the length of that dress….
Let’s just say, brown leggings are on our ‘to-do list’ in the very, very near future!
Hindsight tells us we should have piped around the yoke’s entirety.
Still, the vibrant red contrasted nicely against the gold.
We added some straight stitching of red DMC along the inverted pleat…
adding another dimension to the dress.
We must say, someone seems pretty pleased with her new dress….
it’s been a long time in coming!!
And with that, another season of PR&P is in the books,
and as always it’s been FUN, FUN, FUN!

It DOES look a bit vintage as I must say I have a LOT of photos of myself as a “smallie” in plenty of dresses w/ similar styling!! AND, I am 50, give or take a few!

That is such an awesome flip of the Lucy! I’m swooning. The color combinations — the running stitch — the piping — the pleat! Great job!

We can take NO credit….we have a little booklet, Ideas from Children’s Corner, by Lezette Thomason that ‘walks you through the process.’…..We had seen a Christmas dress done this way, and decided we had to give it a try!

I love everything about this dress! The color combination, the inverted asymmetrical pleat, the embroidery detail and contrasting piping. All perfect!
That fabric on the inverted pleat is one of my all time favorites. I wish I would have bought it too…

The fabric is right down your alley!! Seriously – I can see you making something with this exact color scheme for your signature style…..even more than it classifying as our signature style!
