Adorable! Adorable! Adorable!
I love when sewing plans coincide with PRP! I love the baby blue plaid. And that peter pan collar is adorable.
Great job aunties!
with love,
-Jo
Isn’t that the truth?? We might have done a happy dance with being able to use a preconceived idea {with materials already bought} for a PR&P challenge!!
The coat is beautiful! Love the fabric. The pattern’s specifications cracked me up. Can you imagine if they had anything like that written on the pattern nowadays. Wow! Great job!
We snicker every time we read the phrase….
Beautiful girls!!! I love it:))
This is adorable! I remember noticing that plaid when you bought it… it’s so pretty. I love the style of this coat, and you did a beautiful job sewing it up. Also, politically correctness or incorrectness is, in my opinion, highly overrated. =)
AMEN!!! Keeping the ‘politically INcorrect’ movement alive down this way…
Beautiful! We’ve decided vintage patterns were written for women who use to know people close to them who sewed/ had a sewing community on hand. That way they could all stand around the pattern and try to figure out what they were talking about…. -Rachel
Love it! And you’d be surprised, that will probably be perfect for winter 2014 the way kids grow. I have a very similar vintage pattern and love the dress from it as well as the coat/cape. I actually kind of like sewing with vintage patterns, because they seem more straight forward to me…maybe because I was taught sewing terminology from my mom though.
We picked the ‘best of the best’ pictures …. as far as fit goes! It is quite large!! **Good to know you like sewing with vintage patterns AND that you are on our email ‘hotline’ {watch out – we may be asking for some interpretations using these patterns}…
OK. Another incredible garment from you!
Just beautiful.

That fabric is lovely and you did a great job matching the plaids. She looks so cute in it! Now I’m dying to see the yellow dress look sewn
It’s adorable.
Yes, that yellow dress is a ‘must sew’ as well….. but, based on the fit of the coat, we have a little time to pull that off {maybe in the spring :)}!
Super cute! I love coats for girls! Congrats on your win last week also! You ladies deserved it!
Thanks, Chelsea!!
Love the blue plaid. GREAT job. She looks very happy with it. You girls should sew more outerwear you did perfect!
It’s gorgeous! I’ve got vintage patterns in my collection, but they scare me. Seeing this inspires me to try tackling one. Great job and congrats on last week’s win!
Oh…..you’ve got this!! If we can sew from them, it’ll be a walk in the park for you!!
It’s darling! So sweet! You are so brave to do a vintage pattern (can’t believe the chubby girls line!)
Entertaining ‘disclaimer’ at best!!
This is so lovely.
I ran into a pattern the other day that said that!! I wish all the clothing in stores were labeled that way, so I’d know what I shouldn’t wear lol!
A lovely coat!!
HA! I think there are several people that need those warnings on labels…..based on what is seen out and about…
Is this the new plaid collection from Burberry kids? No? Sorry, I mistaken it with the brand name outerwear because it’s so gorgeous.
Congratulation for winning last week.
Awwww, thanks Golf!! You’re so sweet…
It’s sooo cute! And you did a great job at it, another fear conquered!
It seems like we have LOTS of fears, doesn’t it!?!? Chipping away at them….not sure if we are conquering them yet!
love, love, love that coat!
AHmazing! The color suits her so well, she’s like a little winter princess. And it is constructed so well.
So precious! That blue plaid is so pretty! Hilarious warning label on that pattern!
Wow, how rude! But regardless, such a gorgeous coat, fabric and little girl!
I know!! And with TWO WARNINGS to boot….. :). We just had to laugh….
Wow, how rude! But regardless, such a gorgeous coat, fabric and little girl!
Beautiful job! You matched the plaids so nicely and it looks great on your niece!
The coat is gorgeous! Love the colors in the plaid, they suit your fair niece perfectly!
Amazing coat! I love the fabric! So glad you went for it!
I love the plaid too – perfectly adorable colors & style on your niece & the coat turned out to be perfect! I’ve been sewing a few smocked dresses using patterns from the 1950’s & I hate the instructions.

Love how it turned out! Ha, and I love the warning
They should have such warnings now–“not suitable for scrawny, chicken-legged kids!”
(Yes, my kids are generally quite thin, and most vintage or even newer big-name patterns are just not made for my skinny kids. Unless I size down significantly!)
And, we are the world’s worst….because we’ve yet to make a muslin for our nieces!! We always say, if it’s too small for the oldest, maybe the little one will wear it eventually…if it is too big, she’ll get there eventually :)…
So beautiful, and nice matching!! That is why I avoid PLAID… I expect to see a swimsuit sometime soon
Oh dear, Marnae!! Thank goodness we have entered AUTUMN….and we have several months before swimwear is needed once again…
Waw… I want that pattern too ;o)
Love the coat.
such a lovely coat. The fabric is perfect& it feels like winter.
Mae
I love this coat! So retro, yet so modern :o) I just went with classic plaid pjs :o)
Coats AND PJs are ‘staples’ in a wardrobe!! I’ve got some plaid pjs of my own that I should have upcycled for this challenge. Great thought!
Love those directions…”not for chubby girls” so funny! I absolutely love this plaid it makes me want to go eat mint chip ice cream! Such a wonderful creation thanks for sharing it with us.
YUM! Definitely a ‘take’ on mint chip ice cream….. If only there were some in the house right now :)! Must eat in moderation though – we wouldn’t want someone to not heed the warning label – not suitable for chubby girls!
This is beautiful. Great work!
You always do such a lovely job! Love that it’s a vintage pattern too!
Elizabeth and I have loads of patterns that say “suitable for chubbies” (a phrase that we use whenever possible) but not many that say “not suitable for chubbies”. Apparently we go for the more full figured patterns!
Well, that’s a classic phrase too!! I’ll be on the lookout for those patterns…and yes, we use the phrase quite frequently and giggle after each use of it…
You guys are amazing! This coat is awesome!
This is SOOOO cute! You did a great job!
