When “Daphne” “Skipped and Played”….

Hi all! We are thrilled to be a part of The Cottage Mama’s Sewing Pattern Blog Tour –
sharing two of Lindsay’s newest patterns, available now in paper and PDF format at The Cottage Mama.
We paired the Daphne Wrap Top with the Skip and Play Capris
to make a fun, summery combination for EA.
While the Daphne Wrap Pattern could be made as a dress,
we opted to make it as a top….giving our very active niece another ‘play outfit.’

These patterns hold true to Lindsay’s trademark, allowing many fabric combinations and pairings to occur so that you create a one-of-a-kind ensemble at the garment’s conclusion.

When new patterns are released, we always seem to find a favorite of the bunch!
This time around? The Skip and Play Pants and Capris had us from ‘hello.’

We had attempted some capris of our own recently {paired with another Cottage Mama pattern, the Janey Jumper, shortened to a top}, but were elated that Lindsay took the thought process right out of it for us by creating a capri pattern with multiple sizes and styling options! SWEET!!

Since this outfit was designed for active wear, someone put it to the test….
After climbing, jumping, spinning, swinging, and playing, it was determined that the outfit was indeed a success {and will see many more trips to the playground in the upcoming weeks}.
We chose fabrics that we thought would lend themselves into ‘fall wear’
after the heat of summer was complete.

However, we failed to take into account one growing niece!!  That said, her completed outfit appeared to be nearing its wearable season.  So sad, on a multitude of fronts….

The good news from it all? CL {ie: niece number two} will be ready to wear it to the playground next summer. Hard to believe, but true! And, it only encourages us to make another outfit for EA using these patterns sooner rather than later….

And, when we do….you better believe we’ll be sharing them with you, our faithful readers!
We are mulling over the possibilities already….
but in the meantime, we are looking forward to being inspired in the upcoming days!

Still looking for inspiration? Lindsay’s upcoming book, Sew Classic Clothes for Girls 20 Dresses, Outfits, and Accessories from The Cottage Mama will be available on October 7th, with pre-orders starting next month! We can’t even begin to fathom the endless possibilities it will hold!

LOOVE those capris!! What is the main fabric? A drill? I think I may need to add these to my wish list…

No idea!!! It is cotton, but that’s as much as we know. The other fabrics were: in my room by moda (top), Valentina Ramos for Robert Kaufman (top lining), and Zen Chic for moda (piping and orange accents). We’ve got to get better at keeping up with fabric as we sew!!! Sorry….

Mistake! That would be in my room by Jenean Morrison for Free Spirit (main top….NOT moda)
