July “Flip this Pattern”: WINNERS ANNOUNCED

We must ask, “are we having fun yet?!?!”
“Flip this Pattern, Month Two” is in the books…..and, boy, oh boy, it didn’t disappoint!
Three fantastic guest contributors {Janice, Rachel, and Catherine} and 45+ sew-along creations whet our appetites for the endless possibilities for sewing the Oliver and S, Roller Skate Dress / Tunic.
We asked; you answered. And, according to us – we are indeed having fun….and LOTS of it!

Wow, at the inspiration popping up all over the blogging community!!
Our dad struggled through the sew-along entries, and here are his “Fantastic Five” of the month {and, although the selection process about did him in….he says he’ll be back next month for more of his favorites}:

Sewing Stash Challenge  |  Daisies and Dresses
Two-Many  |  Handmade Frenzy  |  Needle and Thread Journey

“Father’s Fantastic Five” was in no way associated to the actual sew-along judging; however, another sew-along participant, Ledys, contacted us about ‘gifting’ a digital prize to these five ladies: a print, inspired by the Roller Skate Dress / Tunic – taking another form of artistic impression through the “Flip this Pattern” series.
And, of course, these ladies have the glory of being one of our dad’s favorites! Ladies, feel free to display the “Father’s Fantastic Five” sidebar button proudly on your site….well done!!
As for the other winners?!?! Participating bloggers in the sew-along entries didn’t make it easy for the judges!!  In fact, there were 15 different entries selected {out of the 20 available rankings – 5 per judge….and 5 for good old dad}.
We asked our panel of judges to judge these entries based on the following factors:
Creativity / Originality of Design
Quality of the garment sewn
Wearability
Overall appeal of the outfit
*Many participants included tutorials for their “flip,” but again – this wasn’t a prerequisite for entering. VERY HELPFUL {and generous of them}, but not a necessity!
The sew-along winner was Kerry of Sutures & Sandpaper with her Reversible Wrap Roller Skate Dress.

The judges stated:

*What a great idea to make a wrap dress from the roller skate pattern!
*Being reversible makes this dress more wearable, I think. Instead of one, we have two dresses!
* Great color combination. The piping detail is a great addition to such a simple and classical dress.
Congratulations, Kerry! Grab your button, and display it proudly on your site! You will be receiving FOUR DIGITAL OLIVER AND S PATTERNS – selected by you, based on your tastes and favorites of the available Oliver and S patterns.
And, for the viewers’ choice award? Rachel’s FLIP of her Tricolor Chevron Dress came out on top as the winner.
Congrats, Rachel! Here is the viewers’ choice button to proudly display on your sidebar as well.
You will be receiving 2 yards of Birch fabric, as well as a $20 Fabricworm gift certificate!

A hearty congratulations to both winners!!  Visit both of them today {here and here} to give them some virtual pats on the back, as well as check out other items on their blogs that interest you!
Sad that it is over? There is absolutely, positively no need to be! We’re only 1/6 of the way through the series.  And, for you non-mathematicians, that’s only 16.666% of awesomeness said and done!

WOW!! Really? Me? Thank you, I’m humbled. This was my first sew-a-long :)
Congrats to Rachel, a beautiful dress! I love Father’s five too (may just have to borrow some of those ideas).
There were so so many lovely flips of this dress. I had a great time being involved in this series, it has pushed me to try new things. Big thanks to Ashley and Emily for hosting such a fun series. I’ll definitely be playing along in the coming months. Thanks to Liesl for the great pattern we all flipped, I will be making many more for my little girl.
I will try to sew up another wrap dress soon and I’ll do up a tutorial when I do :)
