July “Flip this Pattern”: Competitors and Prizes

June was fun! July’s pattern has been introduced and
a lovely discount code has been given {good through July 3rd}.
And, now it is time to “meet the competitors” for this month!
The July “Flip this Pattern” competitors have been chomping at the bit to show you their “Flipped Creations”….and they are ready to knock your sewing socks off…..trust us! But first, a little introduction of each is in order {introduced in the order of their upcoming “Flipped Appearance”}!
Janice {so-cal sewing mom}

Hi all! I’m Janice – mother of 4, lover of dogs, sewing, and basketball. I work full time, sew most of my 3 year old’s wardrobe, read all the sewing blogs, and am a fabric addict. To that end, I’ve even got a small on-line fabric business – kind of like an alcoholic owning a bar! I’ve sewed since middle school when we had home economics back in the day. I remember I made myself a brown no-wale corduroy blazer – a very ambitious project for a 13 year old! I’m so excited to be participating in this series….I’ve always admired the creations of the “Frances Suzanne” sisters, and I’m touched they asked me to join in!

Rachel {nest full of eggs}

Rachel here from nest full of eggs (you can also find me at flickr and ravelry). I’ve been married 17 years and have two sons (15 and 10) and one daughter (5). We live in Minnesota. I love the concept of this series, you can take any sewing pattern really and think of it as a blank canvas, let the artist in you come out and go sew up a masterpiece. I am so looking forward to seeing what everyone creates with the Roller Skate Dress. The sewing community comes up with such clever ideas, I get a ton of inspiration from the talented sewists (= sewing + artists) out there.
Catherine {CathGrace}
Hello! I’m Catherine and I blog over at cathgrace. I like to think of myself as a general maker, but my heart always returns to sewing as my first great love. I have sewn almost daily since I was a little girl, and have a lovely Gramma and Mom in my sewing lineage. (Every time I sew anything, I imagine my Gramma tunelessly whistling next to me, a pin clutched in her mouth, sewing with the most beautiful little stitches; or my mom sitting across a quilt frame from me, chatting and sewing our love into a baby blanket.) In my real life I am a wife to an Air Force Husband, living in S. Korea with our 2 children. I have the greatest passion for children’s clothes and filling a gap in my daughter’s wardrobe since commercial clothing companies seem to have 2 options for girls her age and size (baby or sexy teen), neither of which is appropriate for a vivacious and sweet, not so little girl. (Okay, I’m going to go ahead and say it, sexy teen isn’t appropriate for ANYONE!) I am heavily inspired by a Bohemian feel, combined with the idea of classical, real looking children’s clothes that can stand a good wash, and be worn over and over again without falling apart (which is more than can be said for lots of store bought clothes!). Thanks Ashley and Emily for having me!!!
And, what competitor prizes are up for grabs this month?? How about a little “fabric love” for one of these lucky ladies, chosen as “viewers’ choice winner” at the end of the month??
Aside from the thrill of victory, the “viewers’ choice winner” will receive the following from our fabulous sponsors:
SPONSOR #1:
Who doesn’t love Birch fabrics???  The texture alone in these fabrics might cause one to swoon, but throw in the design component of each fabric line and …..insert audible gasp….. it is almost too much for the fabric lover to take! Birch Fabrics, mixes retro style with whimsical juvenile accents that lend themselves perfectly to nursery bedding, while still being sophisticated enough for pillows on your sofa, or curtains in your craft room. In addition, their fabric is produced from 100% organic cotton, and printed with low impact dyes.
Birch fabrics will be giving the winner 2 yards of fabric within a specified fabric line – winner’s choice of the fabric within the line!

SPONSOR #2:

Fabricworm is no stranger to many of you. This company prides itself in carrying modern fabric for modern sewists. They feature a wonderful collection of children’s fabrics, featuring themes like animals, travel, flowers, transportation, and many many more. Many beautiful Japanese import fabrics from Kokka Japan, Naomi Ito for Nani Iro, and Echino by Etsuko Furuya can also be found and purchased at their online store. And, they have one of the largest selections of organic fabrics on the web. Fabricworm features an impressive selection of designers like Alexander Henry, Heather Ross, Denyse Schmidt, Etsuko Furuya, Joel Dewberry, Michael Miller, Jay-Cyn Designs, and Amy Butler…..just to name a few. It is a user-friendly site that is easy to navigate between pages.

Fabricworm is graciously giving the winner a $20 gift certificate to use at their online store.

And for the rest of you??? Well….the July Sew-Along Linky Party opens tomorrow….and an awesome prize for the winner will be announced at that time! You don’t want to miss the scoop….Let’s just say, it has made us want to sew along, incognito of course….
