Fabric Shopping with Friends

We. Are. Planners! So much so, that this past spring we made a plan: meet up with our friend, Sally, and fabric shop! A date and location were set….and we were off: EXCITEMENT at its finest!

You see, Sally was one of our first blogging friends we had “met” {virtually, speaking}. If you ever follow Project Run and Play, Sally is one of the “nicest of the nice” in the sew-along group. She always encourages and offers advice/assistance when asked or needed.  We especially seemed to hit it off during the “White Sheet Challenge” of PR&P Season 5….of which, we both experienced our share of frustrations! Misery loves company, and this company has stuck {although it is far from a miserable friendship :)}.

And, since we had never met in person….we decided it was high time. Sally suggested a neat local eatery, Merridee’s Breadbasket. We arrived a few minutes ahead of her, and then entertained ourselves and played ‘paparazzi’ trying to capture her {or who we thought might be her} on the sly.

Merridee’s Breadbasket was definitely the spot to be on a Saturday morning! The food was absolutely delicious, and the company was even better!

After we had completely stuffed ourselves, we headed out for some fabric fun! Sally was the perfect hostess, taking us to some of her go-to fabric stores….and having patience with our S.L.O.W. decision-making skills along the way….
We went to Stitchers’ Garden first…..known for its quantity, by most….and its shot cotton, by us!

We purchased some “butter”, since it was a remorse from our last trip there. A few more shot cotton colors made it into our purchased pile, as well as a fun watercolor print by Kaffe Fassett.

Then, we headed to the Bernina store. It was highly organized, clean, well-kept and full of some unusual fabric. If that had been our last stop of the day, purchases would have probably been made….but, we were holding out for Textile Fabrics, and their 50% off sale!

Textiles finished off the day: a store that never disappoints! We were super excited to purchase fabric for some upcoming outfits – one for our July Oliver and S Roller Skate “FLIP” and another for an upcoming blog tour!

Thank goodness Sally was there to help us through the sticky decision-making moments. It was said, “We need to hang out with you more often…” time and time again!

She has such a wealth of knowledge, and made everything seem so easy as we talked through potential creations with her.

It was a fun day, from beginning to end…..and yes, we’d like to think there will be some more shopping adventures for this trio in the future. Or so we hope! *Preferably without the “photo bomb” next time….

What fun. Yesterday, while talking to my mom on the phone, I said to my Mom, “Blogging is like having real imaginary friends.”
Glad that you had a fun trip and got some beautiful fabrics. Hope someday we get to met you lovely ladies.
With Love,

Scary

I think my favorite thing about you is your PLANNING. Haha. It’s amazing how organized you both are. (or at least seem) I know you’re always talking about how difficult it is to make a decision and how long your process ends up being, but I envy it either way. I am way too much the other direction – flying by the seat of my pants ALL THE TIME :)

I still think about the fun we had that day…definitely something we need to do again! Slowly getting to the fabric I bought and have plans to go and get some shot cotton for myself. Thanks again for such a fun day!!!!
