The Birthstone Dress {Guest Post}

Hello all! We’d love for you to join us over at Mama Says Sew today, as we share a
“May Creation” of our own {THE BIRTHSTONE DRESS} in her “Just Sew” Series.

Head on over there and see how we combined the 2013 Pantone Color of the Year, twelve months of birthstones, some embroidery, and a little calendar knowledge…..all on a free, downloadable pattern from Craftiness is not Optional!

And, yes….. Emily {suzanne} officially called a “French knot hiatus”
after this garment was completed.

First, yes I did know that emerald is the stone for May…it’s my birth month after all and green is my favorite color. Second, did you keep track of how many french knots it took to make those circles? I would call you and uber expert by now. Third, the opossum hunt had me laughing, because you see when we drove down to Florence AL to see a friend a couple of weeks ago, I had my husband stop so I could take a picture of “Fried Possum” outside of a restaurant.

No French knot count and amount….it would be a scary number, I’m sure! Expert? Hardly! Don’t look too closely. Nothing says welcome to the south like an opossum, huh? We do have one nearby -there’s been some family sightings of it. Of course EA keeps calling the varmint a chipmunk….

This is darling! Love the embroidery, but I can understand needing a break after that many French knots. =)
