The Anywhere Skirt {Dana of MADE}

According to EA, “Vintage Yellow Gingham with Pink Buttons” might just be the “PERFECT COMBINATION!”

MADE: The Anywhere Skirt

As Dana {of MADE} prepared to release her newest pattern, The Anywhere Skirt, we had the opportunity to give it a little “test” of our own.

MADE: The Anywhere Skirt

Now, a little background . . .for those of you not as familiar with the Anywhere Skirt and/or EA’s taste in clothing fit:

You see, the Anywhere Skirt is high-waisted, and actually marketed for teens and ladies {although anyone can wear it – based on measurements only}. EA is just the opposite – a child . . . that wears her skirts, shorts, pants, etc. AS. LOW. AS. POSSIBLE.

MADE: The Anywhere Skirt

Upon hearing the skirt was high-waisted, “Sister Momma” said, “She’s not going to like it.”

Alright. Challenge accepted.

First things first: Sew it in a color she can’t refuse. YELLOW!! The child “LOVES her some yellow” . . . and requests yellow outfits from time to time. And, then, it hit us: we had the PERFECT fabric. . .waiting to be put to use. Our mom had a yellow gingham dress when she was in 4th-5th grade, and found some extra fabric from it while cleaning some closets out this summer. SCORE.

MADE: The Anywhere Skirt

Then, accent it with another “special color”: PINK! Another color we don’t use too often . . . but such a cheery combination to pattern test for a happy blogger, like Dana.

Top it off with the sash option of Dana’s pattern, and we had a niece FIRED UP about her new skirt. Take that, “Sister Momma.”

But, then we ran into a bit of an obstacle. A MISmeasurement. . . on the waistband. EEK! And, a devastated child.

MADE: The Anywhere Skirt

“You can UNSEW it, can’t you?!?!?”

Stated over and over and over again . . .

A few weeks later, and additional waistband length, EA was ready to put it to the “test.”

MADE: The Anywhere Skirt

Ahhhh, but she wasn’t alone.

MADE: The Anywhere Skirt

You see, CL has “practically” the same waist measurement as her big sister. . . So, this skirt serves as the first piece of sewn clothing BOTH girls can wear during the same time frame.

The length on CL is MUCH BETTER than EA. We are attributing EA’s recent growth spurt to the finished length, yet she still plans to get her fair share of “wears” in before it is all said and done.

MADE: The Anywhere Skirt

NOW: GREAT NEWS! Dana is graciously offering her pattern, The Anywhere Skirt, to TWO lucky recipients!! If that doesn’t make you want to twirl, we don’t know what might!

MADE: The Anywhere Skirt

Enter the rafflecopter below by commenting on how you would design your skirt, based on the following options:

child / adult
waistband size: wide or normal
sash / no sash
full gathers / partial gathers
skirt length: above the knee, knee-length, mid-calf, or maxi

GOOD LUCK, ALL! The rafflecopter will close Friday, August 7th at Midnight {CST}, and winners will be announced via our Facebook page the following day.

Ah, I would love to have this pattern to actually make it for myself with the wide waistband, no sash and partial gathers. Probably knee length, but I cn totally also see a midi length…

I have some lovely orange and blue that would make a nice skirt for me – wide waist, no sash and semi gathered. at least knee length. would probably have enough to make granddaughter one too.

What a cute skirt! I’m sure both my daughter and granddaughter would love this. Yellow and pink is such a cheery combo.

I would sew this for a child with a wide sashed waistband. Full gathers and mid-calf, because she LOVES long skirts.

Love the pop of pink buttons — and you’re right, it’s such a cheery Dana color combination, yet it looks right at home on your models. Perfect.

My daughter would love this and at 4.5 she is striving so hard to be a big girl even in her fashion picks! I would make the child size, wide waist band with sash and have it hit just above the knee. I have hidden in my stash some Riley Blake Derby Luck fabric and adorable horse shoe buttons, so this would be a “perfect fit” all they way round.

I have lots of gingham in my stash, so I would probably use a bright print with some gingham accents for my granddaughters.

I’d love to make my daughter a normal waistband, fully gathered, with a sash, hitting her right st the knee. Such a fun skirt! :)

I’d make this for my 3 and 5 year old daughters. I’d have to look at the pattern to be sure, but I’d likely do wide sash, partial gathers, and mid calf…..longer skirts have a little growing room!

I would make a denim skirt with partial gathers. Probably just above the knee with a wide waistband. For me! Such a cute pattern.

I’m not usually a fan of gathered skirts on myself, but those partial gathers might just work! I’d sew it for myself with partial gathers, a wide waistband and no sash. Then I’d sew one for my daughter with full gathers for full twirl factor!

Ooh, I think I’d make one for myself, knee-length with partial gathers, a normal (or maybe narrower) waistband with a sash. It looks fun!

I’ve been eyeing this pattern!! I would love to make one for myself, above the knee, with a sash and partial gathers. However, I’m sure I would be sewing some full gathered little girl ones as well!

Child sized, waistband normal, no sash, full gathers, above the knee – any color but yellow for my granddaughters. My favorite color but I’ve already been told it’s not their favorite color!

So cute! I love the cheery yellow with the pink buttons and the colors look great on both girls. I would make a skirt for a 3-5 year old using the wide waistband, sash/bow, knee length, and with full gathers (the better to twirl, you know!). Thank you for the opportunity to win a pattern!

This skirt would be perfect for both my eldest daughter, who will only wear skirts at the moment, and myself – I am a teacher and this looks like perfect teacher-wear! I would make us matching skirts in a floral print with narrow waistbands, no sash, knee length and partial gathers. I would love to win this!

I’d love to make myself one with a normal waistband, partial gathers, sash and just below my knees. It’s a shame the smaller one didn’t fit CL, lovely work!

What a cheery combination! My daughters have very similar waist measurements right now too… In fact, the oldest’s waist is only 2.5 inches bigger than the youngest’s! I’m curious if I could get this style to work for my oldest, who also likes to wear her skirts very, very low.

I’d have to make it for my oldest daughter (6 going on 16) who wants to wear only big girl looking clothing. Wide waistband, partial gathers, no sash, at or slightly above the knee. Purple. Always purple.
