When things don’t exactly “pan out” as intended, it’s nice to have 3 nieces in the sizing line-up!!
That said, CL wasn’t the INTENDED recipient for this Lunch Box Tee. Even with room to grow in the shoulders, it worked nonetheless.
EA got one wearing of it in {skimpily lengthwise, we might add :)} before passing it down to the Middle Sis!!
MUCH BETTER on CL….thankfully.
We really don’t know what went awry on it. Maybe it was “sewing with knits” that threw us off a bit.
Or, it might have been the fact we didn’t really study the sizing / measurements for the Lunch Box Tee.
Or, the fact that we always add length to a 3T when sewing for EA which we, specifically Ashley, forgot.
And then there is the issue with the way EA wears her pants {“How low can you go??”}, and her long-waisted stature…
We sew enough Oliver and S patterns, we feel as if we “know” where our nieces fit on the size range….but, without adding length…we missed the mark, to CL’s fortuity.
We had bought this fabric to coordinate with CL’s stealth, game day attire. Now…she has two “game day” outfits!
As for our sewing the Lunch Box Tee? It was a simple, straight forward sew!! And that’s saying a LOT from us – given our minimal experience of sewing with knits!!
The pocket construction was like none we had done before….it might be similar to the Book Report Dress?? But we’ve not sewn that pattern yet… We are not very spatial, so we had trouble visualizing how it would all come together until it was practically constructed!!
CL’s favorite part?? Why, the pockets, of course!!
Who can resist these babies?!?! Not CL!!
Once she discovered them, there was no coaxing her hands out of them :)!
Anyone else had a garment go to an unintended recipient this past year? If so…tell us how you made “lemonade from lemons”!!
We personally like our glass “half full” instead of “half empty!”
I love it. The bias pocket is very clever and it’s so nice to see a cute kid in a top and jeans (much as I love nice dresses too)
What a lovely shirt! The fabric is so cute and making the pocket on bias was a great idea.
I am never quite sure for each of my daughters I am sewing! They are only 1,5 years apart so if it doesn’t fit one it will almost for sure fir the other one…
Cute! Love the plaid fabric.
CL is such a darling! It’s always a bummer when things don’t fit the intended recipient…but it’s wonderful when there are younger siblings who can wear it instead!
It’s an adorable top…I love that plaid fabric! It’s nice to have backups when you’re sewing isn’t it.;)
I’m sure there’s a learning curve when sewing with knits (I’m not there yet) but you did a fab job – love the fabric!
Glad you have three nieces (in case anything goes wrong). For me, it’s usually the girl from a colleague that is surprised
