You know….finding already completed garments {sans hem} in our pre-blogging sewing stash could become addicting!
This little dress was yet another one of these gems ready-to-wear {once the hem was complete}.
Thankfully, it was sewn with a classic small blue floral print…..Therefore, not “dating” the creation before it was ever worn!
We sewed the pattern, Collars, Etc. Tuck Dress.
We’ve actually sewn another one of these {using this pinterest pin as inspiration}….but it hasn’t made a blog appearance {yet}.
EA’s reaction to the dress was funny!
At first, we don’t think she thought we had made it. “I’ve got a NEW DRESS I’m going to try on and wear to church.”
Then, while pointing to the collar, it was…”Look how it is white, and then how the ends of it change back to blue!”
That’s when we educated EA on the terminology for our favorite detail: PIPING.
It’s time she learned the word for it, don’t you think?!?!
Shockingly, she liked the entire dress…. She’s become quite opinionated recently on what she wants to wear, and when she wants to wear it.
We thought the ‘selling point’ would be the white heart buttons….but it seems that blue piping made quite the statement for her!
She actually asked us, “Can I keep it for a little while, and then I’ll give it back?” {please excuse the incorrect grammar…she’s three, people}.
We tried explaining to her that we can’t wear it, and that she could wear it as long as possible…and then CL could wear it….and then “Baby” could wear it. Of which she responded exasperatedly, “The baby would be too little!”
The question was posed again and again {with a similar response from us}….and finally ceased by our saying – “Yes, you can keep it for a little while!”
SUCCESS!!! **And, not the last of our pre-blogging “garment stash”….yet…..
My niece is also 3 and also being very opinionated about what she will and won’t wear and when… Tricky to navigate when trying to sew her up a Winter wardrobe! Gorgeous dress. Blue piping on a peter pan collar would sell it to me too… Also maybe the pin tucks… And maybe the buttons too 😀
beautiful dress and even more beautiful child. Is the dress on backwards in the last photo? In that last photo the buttons are now in the back.
You are very observant! No, the dress isn’t on backwards in the last photo. It has three faux buttons on the front of the dress {between the pintucks} and those same buttons are used down the back placket…as real buttons!
Oh so sweet!
Everything you make is beautiful! I love the delicate blue-and-white with the heart-shaped buttons and piping.
