When I sew for my kids I like to keep things simple and comfortable so the Beachy Boatneck was right up my alley! My little lady is pretty against shirts and pants lately so I decided to stick with what she loves and ended up with this fun dress!
Based on the size chart I went with the 3t for my 4 year old and then narrowed it down just a touch more for a more feminine fit. I chopped off my pattern just below the arms and lengthened the facing to match. I ended up shortening the sleeves as well. For the skirt I went with a simple a-line and added in some fullness to give it a nice twirl factor. The neckline was widened just a touch as well; my kids have round noggins
I really wanted a sash to break up my prints but for a play dress I knew I didn’t want to worry about keeping it tied so instead I top stitched a sweet and simple faux sash to the front bodice. I left it off the back to give the dress enough stretch to easily get it on and off.
These happy yellow polka dots and the breezy seersucker has both of us ready for summer!
I think she might just need a few more of these in her closet
