PR&P: A Look Behind the Scenes {Week Three: Upcycle Challenge}

Have YOU embraced our Precisely PANTONE look yet??
There’s still time to vote….polls remain open through Thursday evening at 9:00 PM CST.

As with the preceding weeks, we’re here to give you a little “Behind the Scenes” look into the events that led to our completed “Refashion Challenge.”
What did we dread / put off completing?
This entire challenge. We got really bogged down in the mental preparation behind this challenge. Upcycling is so cool, neat, etc. when done right….we were concerned about doing it right! The good news is we have several more garments ready and wanting to be upcycled!
Who had the most ease in opening up his / her closet to the upcycling challenge?
Hands down, our dad! He gave us ‘free reign’ to anything we wanted in his closet….
of course, when we found a crisp $11 in a potential garment’s pocket,
we had to tease him a little bit about having ‘anything we wanted’ in his closet.
What was the biggest ‘ah-ha’ while working through the challenge?
Knit doesn’t run through a copier.
That was a “project FAIL….”
But, linen worked like a charm so we were back in business!!
What part of this look was almost canned…..but is now one of our favorite pieces to it?
CL’s leg warmers. They are seriously too cute for words….and can fit in the palm of one’s hand!

Were there any tricks left in your photo shoot bag??
Yes. PANTONE crayons. Okay, so they weren’t really the PANTONE colors….just as close to a match as we could find. The girls LOVE to color, so we thought that might be our saving grace.
What was CL’s favorite part of the photo shoot?
Riding in the scrap cart. She didn’t want to get out
{as seen here, chasing down Ashley to get back in….}!!
What were some funny EA-isms through the photo shoot?
“What’s that smell?? It is stiiiiiiinnnnnkkkkkkyyyyyy in here.”
{describing the print shop smell}

“I’m as dirty as Jane when she went up the chimney!”
{week 2’s challenge left a lasting impression on this child}
What has been on EA’s mind since {as said in a more recent one of her prayers}?
“Dear God, Thank you for Grandaddy and Ashy’s workplace….even though it’s stinky.”
{Sister Momma’s regret?? Not getting it on video….}

Who got the biggest “GOOF” for the week?
Shockingly, there wasn’t a huge goof this week. YES, we learned some things….
but they weren’t detrimental to the look we were going for.

As for a slice of humble pie?
We were both served two helpings after asking EA her favorite part of her new outfit.
She quickly responded, “MY BOOTS.”
Ummmm, okay.
We asked again.
My ‘blaids’ {ie: braids}.
Lesson learned. We didn’t ask any more.
Now….If you haven’t already done so,
there’s still time to vote for your favorite “Refashion Challenge” look for the week!
Voting closes Thursday night, so cast your vote before then….because…
We’re cleaning up on this end,
and hope to be able to share with you our FINAL LOOK {Signature Style} next week…..

    FINALLY!! EA was on the road with her other grandparents for 8.5 hours before getting to the grandparents’ house. The last 1.5 hours were worrisome – night had fallen and they were still stuck on the interstate. Once they were able to exit, they slid home. SO VERY THANKFUL!!

What I’ve learned from having 3 little girls… they LOVE boots. 😉 My daughters have at least 10 (probably more, shoes are their most-received gift) other pairs of shoes but the boots are the ones that get worn 95% of the time. Love the EA-isms. =)
