January “Flip this Pattern”: Flipped Creation Two

Heidi, from greendoodle, is here to give you her “Flipped Creation”
for the Clever Charlotte, Chickadee Blouse and Skirt.
************************************************************************

Let me begin by saying that this pattern is true perfection!  Clever is the perfect name for this darling line of patterns. For a while now I have had my eye on the chickadee blouse pattern simply for its adorable collar.  So when this pattern was available to ‘flip’  I nearly flipped myself.
The pattern is expertly created and carefully constructed.  I was impressed with the clear directions and attention to detail.  Two darling woven labels were included to add to the wow factor.  (The labels were used up early on my “muslin” of Christmas jammies.  Too bad there aren’t a few more labels for the 2 chickadee blouses that are cut and sitting on the sewing table.  Can you tell I’m loving this pattern?)
I used the offset Peter Pan collar as my inspiration.  For the dress I lowered the yoke to create dropped waist dress.  I kept the box pleat on the back of the bodice, but turned the single front pleat into a knife pleated skirt.  I loved the long sleeves, but gathered the wrist and bound with a bias strip. I then used covered buttons with loop closures to finish it off.

My favorite ( and simplest) part of the project is the little cape.

I used a wool blend to make a simple hooded circle cape with the same collar.  I tried to mimic the cute skirt hemline in the cape, but I don’t know if I pulled it off.  Hmmm.

Oh, and it has the cutest clasp closure hiding under the collar.

Thank you Ashley and Emily for all your hard work to organize this fun sewing collaboration! Community is truly the best part of joining a sewing series and I have enjoyed watching this series take off. I has been a treat sewing along with you!
************************************************************************
“Flip this Pattern” voting will begin on Friday, January 24 and run through Sunday, January 26.
Stay tuned for more “Flips” coming your way….every Thursday….between now and then!
And, in the meantime, link up your “Flipped Pattern” and be inspired by others sewing along!

Beautiful adaptation! We love the vintage vibe–so 1920s and that cape is adorable too! So nice the weather cooperated to help you stage these wintery photos, too 😉

Erin, you nailed it. Exactly the era I had in mind as I started. Finding the “right” fabric was a bear, and I moved from a little less dramatic 20’s to easy wearing church dress, but nonetheless, that was the inspiration. Thank you so much!

I LOVE the cape and the fabric you used. Really like how you pulled in the same orange color on the trim on the jumper. Beautiful flip!!!

The computerised woven labels are vital to enhance the productivity of your business. They play a vital role in advertising your business.

The woven labels are in great demand for exegerrating the grace of clothes. These tiny pieces of clothes are in great demand for conferring an identification to the business.
