There are 4 wooden buttons down the front of the skirt. The top one is fully functional and gives BK a bit more room to get the skirt on and off. Even though the back of the over skirt has button hole elastic, it’s still a bit hard for her to pull on and off. The other three buttons are sewn in place with light blue silk thread.
The final piece of my flip is a t-shirt. By joining the back pattern pieces of the blouse and eliminating the pleat, I was able to create a basic block. The front is the same pattern piece but with a slightly lower neckline.
The t-shirt has a loose fitting, boxy shape that’s easy to wear. It would make a great sweatshirt sewn out of a sweatshirt fleece or french terry fabric!
Here’s a quick recap of the changes that I made to flip the Clever Charlotte Chickadee Blouse + Skirt pattern:
You have outdone yourself, Cindy!!! I just ADORE this 4 piece outfit that has kept so much of the original, yet with many changes as well. The overskirt and underskirt idea is brilliant and the jacket with the blue piping to match the skirt is fabulous. Gorgeous fabric and colours, too. I love everything about it!!!
Oh Cindy, your flip is very well thought out and put together. You are the queen of knits and separates. The beautiful bright turquoise is so eye catching. The texture of the underskirt is such a welcome surprise!
Please put together a tutorial on how you created the texture on the underskirt ~ thank you!
Love the colors of this outfit and the pleating of the underskirt is amazing! I think I would have gone mad doing that much pleating though! Great job!
This whole outfit is outstanding! So classically put together, but then the skirt brings some unexpected modern edge to it. Well done!
Outstanding! Everything about this outfit is simply outstanding!!
Wowza, that’s another great flip! That skirt is amazing!
Absolutely gorgeous, very very clever!
Oh Cindy, ive been waiting so long to see! I love every single piece! Your photos are amazing, fabric choices are spot on, the colors are great! I love all the details and texture. Beautiful work!
Stunning, Cindy – I LOVE it! So clever to make the blouse into a jacket. The pleats are fab.
Gorgeous outfit, Cindy! Love the separates and the underskirt is so adorable – ruffles are perfect for little girls
II’m sold with the t-shirt – how did I never tough of it. Love it!
The color combination is perfect….but….I’m still reeling over all those pleats! Truly a labor of love….
Such an amazing outfit!!!!! I love everything about it.
Love the skirt!
Thank you all so much!
