October “Flip this Pattern”: Sew-Along and Prizes

Who’s up for another “Flip this Pattern” sew-along PAR-TAY!?!?!
Let’s do it: using Figgy’s Studio: Sunki as our springboard for inspiration!
Because….It is all about you: Inspiration! Creativity! Camaraderie! Sewing enthusiasm!

Sew-alongs will always hold a special place in our hearts! These venues are where strong, blogging friendships form and are maintained. We want our blog to be a gateway to bridging those friendships for many of you; a place that you discover sewing enthusiasts like yourself – those with similar tastes and interests.

Today, we would love to share with you the October “Flip this Pattern” sew-along sponsors, and what they will be offering as a prize package for this month of the series!!

SEW-ALONG SPONSORS:

SPONSOR #1:
As if Figgy’s hasn’t gifted the “Flip this Pattern” series enough, Shelly is providing one Figgy’s pattern to the sew-along winner. Thank you, thank you, thank you Shelly for your support and contributions through this month of “Pattern Flipping!”

SPONSOR #2:

Fabricworm is no stranger to many of you. This company prides itself in carrying modern fabric for modern sewists. They feature a wonderful collection of children’s fabrics, featuring themes like animals, travel, flowers, transportation, and many many more. Many beautiful Japanese import fabrics from Kokka Japan, Naomi Ito for Nani Iro, and Echino by Etsuko Furuya can also be found and purchased at their online store. And, they have one of the largest selections of organic fabrics on the web. Fabricworm features an impressive selection of designers like Alexander Henry, Heather Ross, Denyse Schmidt, Etsuko Furuya, Joel Dewberry, Michael Miller, Jay-Cyn Designs, and Amy Butler…..just to name a few. It is a user-friendly site that is easy to navigate between pages.

Fabricworm is graciously giving the winner a $20 gift certificate to use at their online store.

SPONSOR #3:
We can’t resist!!  We’ve got to get in on the fun…..so, this month, we’ll be giving a mystery box of goodies to the winner!!  Not to ruin the surprise, but we are pretty excited about our contribution to the sew-along winner this month. Let’s just say, it will be loaded with some of our favorite sewing things!

So, in summary {and to alleviate any confusion on what prizes are up for grabs},
the October Prize Packages are as follows:

**October Sew-Along Judges Include**
Ajaire {call ajaire}
Shannon {little kids grow}
Sally {daisy-chain creations}

And, if the judges look familiar….well, they should! These ladies were the previous month’s competitors, and have shown us all that they truly know how to “FLIP a PATTERN!”

What criteria will each consider when scoring your creations?
1. Creativity / Originality of Design. *How did the participant flip the outfit? Was it original? Was it creative? Did it make the judge say, “Aaaahhhhh, that’s a pretty neat concept!”
2. Quality of the garment sewn. *Of course the judges can’t touch it, critique it, etc. BUT hopefully they can get a feel for the garment construction through the photos.
3. Wearability. *This doesn’t need to be mistaken that the garment must be modeled {We did NOT make that a rule in the sew-along competition, so participants shouldn’t be penalized if there isn’t a modeled shot. While it is nice and helpful for judging, it isn’t a necessity}…..Instead think of it as a ‘functional wardrobe piece.’
4. Overall appeal of the outfit. *Completely subjective….and will be based on the judges’ taste and preferences.
**And, finally, don’t get caught up in the ‘rules/stipulations’ for playing along. It is extremely subjective, and not meant for increased stress. Instead: have fun, make some sewing friends, be inspired, and create something you love!! That’s really all that matters in the long run….

So, now is your chance to inspire the rest of the blogging world! Link up any garments created using the Figgy’s Pattern: Sunki Dress as a starting point. These may be sewn anytime within the past six months….that’s right: the past six months {entries do not have to be sewn during the month of the competition – another perk to the “Flip this Pattern” sew-along}. You may enter more than one item in the sew-along competition….the more the merrier! And, no, you do not have to have a blog to participate. Share your creation on your flickr photostream and link up from there.

If you haven’t bought your Figgy’s Pattern: Sunki Dress yet, buy it here….using the discount code, FLIPIT, to receive a 10% discount on all Figgy patterns {discount is only good through today….} and to join in the fun!

*The sew-along linky party will remain open until October 24 at 11:00 PM CST.

Other areas you can share your creations include:
Pinterest: This board is set up for YOU….to pin inspirations of the given patterns to flip OR to pin your own creations using those patterns.

Flickr Group {Flip this Pattern}: Share creations you’ve sewn on this board. But, remember, only linked entries to this post will be eligible for the sew-along prize.

Instagram: Use the hashtag #flipthispattern to share sneak peeks and/or creations you’ve been working on throughout this series…..yet another way for us to share in the fun all year long!

*New to linky parties? That’s totally fine…here’s what you have to do:
Find a “Flip this Pattern” entry on your blog that you want to link up.
The link should look something like this:
http://(your blog adress/website)/(the post you want to link).html
Linking to the post is the easiest way for people to get back to that post.
Then click where it says “click here to enter.”
Follow the steps to link your post and create a title, and select your picture.
Keep in mind the picture will be small thumbnail, so pick a picture that shows it off the best.

Lastly, if you would be so kind to add our “Flip this Pattern” button to your page or post {or wherever you store your linky party things}, that would be awesome!

Now, how about we get this party started!?!?!?
